Hi all ,
Would appreciate some advice. I went for my debanding appointment last week and got permanent retainers on both the upper and lower arches. My orthodontist then made impressions of my teeth and I was told to collect the removable clear retainers this week.
Went to collect the removable retainers yesterday and was surprised to hear that my orthodontist was no longer with the clinic. A nurse got me to try the fit and instructed me to give the clinic a call if I had any problems with the retainers.
So last night I wore them for the first time and the retainers cut my gums as I pushed them to fit. Feeling a wee bit upset on this christmas day about the discomfort and slight bleeding.. thought that monitoring/fitting would be done after debanding? If so, should I go back to the same orthodontist (he does have a practice at another clinic)? And will he require the records from my current clinic?
Debanded but no follow-up.

I think you would have a great shot at trying your ortho (if he has another practice). My Ortho's moved practices before, but a long time ago and doesnt plan on movin to a different practice. My friend just recently built her a new office in 09. a little further away down the rd but she kept the same name. So I would definatly try and if not ask around for good orthodontists who couls help you.

Thanks! I've gone back to the clinic and they trimmed the retainers a bit. It now fits ok and I probably will get a review from another dentist when I go back for cleaning.BracedSurgeryStudent wrote:I think you would have a great shot at trying your ortho (if he has another practice).
