General retainer cleaning...

If you have finished with your orthodontic treatment and are wearing retainers (or will be soon), this is a special place to connect with others in your (enviable) situation. Ask a question or make a comment about life post-braces.

General retainer cleaning...

#1 Post by ZoseyPosey »

I'm out of braces - hurray! Now I'm trying to figure out all the ins and outs of retainers...

I'm currently using the Retainer Brite soak at night...but what the heck am I supposed to do the retainers (essix) the other times during the day I have my retainers out? Usually I just give them a quick brush and rinse but they just don't feel that clean to me. :Questions: I just saw the Cleanse Freshen Go products in the store...would those be good to use during the day and then just soak them at night? Or is this overkill?

Any tips would be great. :)

Yes, that's pretty much why Cleanse Freshen Go was created. I don't think it would be overkill. If you're wearing the retainers all day, they are rather gross when you take them out of your mouth. It's nice to feel that they are clean again when you put them back in after lunch or whatever.
I'm the owner/admin of this site. Had ceramic uppers, metal lowers ~3 years in my early 40's. Now in Hawley retainers at night!
