Has anyone had jaw problems after having braces? I had braces years ago when I was younger, extractions, and cervical headgear to fix a class 2 malocclusion. I never noticed it right away, but in addition to having an obtuse nasolabial angle and small mouth/jaw, my jaw pops and opens crookedly, it also looks slightly crooked when I smile. I went to an orthodontist for a free consolation and I think the asymmetry is caused by a difference in length of the condyles(sp?) of the jaw. I'm just not sure if it is a genetic thing or it could be something caused by the pressure of headgear and extractions during periods of growth.
I know this isn't the place for medical advice, but I am just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.
