Vivera Retainers After Invisalign with Rubber Bands

At my next ortodontist appointment, they are taking off all my buttons and a small section of braces that I have been wearing to close an extraction. I expect to get my Vivera retainers at that appointment, but I did hear the ortho say that they would add a hook and elastics. Has anybody else had Rubber Bands with their retainers? Please share your story.
