I know we are adults, but did anyone who got Hawley retainers get to chose a color for them?

I have never been given the option. Not a big deal for me because mine is pink so it blends in well with gums plus the wire isn't too noticeable when I wear them.

Stell4r, you should always have a choice in what kind of treatment you receive.. I do know what you mean though. My ortho is so persistent I keep my Hawley I'd probably have to see another ortho if i wanted to purchase an Essix.

I think my ortho only does Essix retainers :| She's already told me at my consult that she'd like to put a bonded retainer on my bottoms and give me the clear removable retainers after treatment is concluded.

I'd probably get a clear one.

I was able to choose a color, so I got a clear cobalt blue. I could have also gotten glitter and opaque colors. No decals or really fun stuff, though. :(

I chose red sparkles on top and black sparkles on bottom.

Mine is clear. I have had it for 14 months now and I think it is yellowing slightly despite my taking care always to keep it clean. I have drunk coffee with it in which perhaps has not helped. If I had the choice of colour now I would probably opt for transparent pink to mask any yellowing. But I am hoping this hawley will be good for at least 5 years before I get it replaced.

my hawley is clear with purple glitter/sparkles throughout. My ortho had all kinds of colors to choose from.

When I was a teenager my ortho made the Hawleys himself. I got to watch him make mine and select the colors and "mixins" as he did it. That was really fun.

Now instead of having a standard lower Hawley with the black sparkles, I now have a pink wraparound Hawley for the bottom. I didn't even get to choose the color because my ortho was going to make me a new Essix but changed his mind and had a Hawley made at the last minute to try to fix my gaps. Grrr, because the pink is so boring!
