Splashing out on a brand new brush...which one?

Love your electric toothbrush? Hate that yucky mouthwash? Can't live without that terrific threader floss? Got a fave canker sore remedy? Here's where you can post your opinions and reviews of specific products relating to dental hygiene and your braces. Tell others what works....and what doesn't!

Splashing out on a brand new brush...which one?

#1 Post by dramaqueendaisy »

Hello Everyone.

Having been in my braces for almost a year now I've come to the decision that I really need to invest in a decent electric toothbrush. I've been managing with a cheapy Oral B Sonic Vitality but I really could do with something a bit more effective.

I'm looking at a either an Oral B Sonic Complete or a SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM Sonicare (my ortho recommended a sonic brush). Does anyone out there have any strong feelings about either of these? Or can you recommend something even better??

Thanks for your help! :-}

I didn't get on with the Sonicare. My teeth started to look very dirty and stained (I do drink a lot of tea and coffee). I also found the brush head difficult to manoevre around my teeth which were quite crowded back then.

In the end I went back to my old Vitality and within a few days my teeth had un-stained. The Oral-B brush heads are small and I find this suits me better. I've got a small mouth and a small head is just easier for me to get round all the nooks and crannies.

There are other members here though who swear by the Sonicare and the Oral-B Triumph. I guess in the end it just comes down to personal preference.

Get a Rota-Dent!!! Costly but worth every penny! I've had mine since my first day in braces and I can't imagine life without it... it's the best. I charge it once a week (overnight) and I'm good to go. The special brushes with a long tip get in between the wires and teeth. I once went a couple of days without it (on vacation) and it took forever trying to brush food out of my braces that the Rota-Dent could have taken care of in a few seconds.
