Kenalog in Orabase
Hi everyone, I am looking for a canker sore medicine called Kenalong in Orabase. I;ve seen it on Canadian and Australian websites, but nowhere else. My dentist gave me a prescription for it but when I live its not available (the caribbean)
I was wondering if anyone was familar with it and if it really does work?
Ps its a steroid that is suppose to stop the pain an the ulcer will heal in 3 days an my freind who uses it says it stops the pain after the first day

It's available without prescription in the UK under the name Adcortyl, so I guess you might be able to buy some online and have it shipped over? Failing that, maybe your dentist knows where you can get it? It seems odd for him to prescribe something that is not available in your country. Where did your friend get hers?
I haven't tried it as I don't really get ulcers, but some online reviews I found raved about it.

Its actually a P medicine in the UK, which means it has to be sold under the supervision of a pharmacist, i.e. its only available from a pharmacy. As it is steroid based, its not wise to use it longer than 5 days as it can thin the gums (hence the P classification). Its also only available as a P medicine in a 5g size, and a 10g tube can only be obtained on receipt of a prescription (10g size is a POM or prescription only medicine).
Another way of looking for it is looking for it under the actual drug or generic name which is triamcinolone 0.1%w/w in orabase. Kenalog/Adcortyl are both branded names.
If you do get hold of some, its best applied at night as it gives it a good chance to reduce the inflammation from the ulcer overnight.

thanks for the responses, it was available in my country but its now off the market, so the dentist still has it on his system (thats the reason he gave me the prescription)
so if i wanna buy it online from the UK, how do i send them my prescription? will they accept a pres from a foreign country?
my friends got it here when it was still being sold.
i have a dentist friend in the uk studying law now, i will see if he can get it for me, he himself got it here before going to the UK, he said he got an ulcer last week, applied it and the pain was gone after day 1, and healed by day 3
i had an awful ulcer under my tongue last week, i cant deal with the pain so i need to get my hands on it, once those braces go on i know i will get ulcers frequently

is Ulcers occur upon braces?
I got this nasty open ulcer on roof of my mouth next to molar band. It was hurting like b**** for whole week. I was at my dentist office getting routinte clean and she told me it's usual with braces but I don't see how brace can basue ulcers?
If this product cures it I'm out of get this one for next outbreak.

some people are prone to ulcers others arent
i am one that gets ulcers without braces, so with braces i know it will happen more frequently
i am allergic to tomato, if i eat a tomato a day later i normally get an ulcer
sometimes after dental work and all that stuff probing in my mouth i get one
if my toothbrush slips i may get one
so i get from trauma as well as from the tomato
when u have braces it can sometimes cut your lips etc at first, so thats how u can get more ulcers happening frequently
some people jus dont get it though, they can get a cut and it will heal normally

I use Adcortyl in orabase as I get what I call hormonal ulcers and it's fab!! It makes it stop hurting overnight. The reason it's best to use overnight is because it dries the ulcer out but as a result, also the rest of your inner lip!!
Sabrina - if you could order it over the internet, it's not very expensive, only a couple of £'s.
