Polgara's Story

#1 Post by polgara »

Well it is official I am gonna get my braces. After all I did decide that if I was gonna make my daughter go through with taking care of her teeth that I should at least take care of mine. So on Wednesday I went and got my spacers put in. Didn't bother me too much until I was working and doing alot of talking. My only major problem was that one of spacers broke and fell out. I am hoping that having only one day of that spacer will be enough to get my braces on time.

Kiwi, thank you for the advice. Hopefully my journey will start tomorrow promptly at 0940 est. Have to go see the ortho today to get that spacer replaced. I am knocking on wood that every thing works out.

Hi Polgara and welcome to this forum. Here's to everything going great in your process! :-88 Take some pictures if you get a chance. Even if you don't post any they're great to be able to look back on and see the changes and improvements.

I also broke a couple of the rubber spacers and they ended up putting in some metal ones to make room. They might do that to you, too, but it's not too bad. A lot of people have reported that the initial spacers and bands are the worst part of the process. :D

Yay, I have now had my braces on for over a week. Now the next appointment is to see about a gingioplasty. I have yellow and blue ties on my brackets.

I can't wait until the 13th of March. I get the oral surgery done, and then I get an adjustment the following week. Do you think I should ask for pain killers? That is the question I am asking myself. I am also already considering a color change. I am thinking either red, or money green. I just might let you all decide for me. Just drop me a message with your choice. I will abide by it and will post a picture of it.

The surgery wasn't all that bad. I am still sorta numb from the local, but I can feel where they put the stitchs. I am more than likely gonna go to bed early tonight, just so that I can get a fresh start on the day. BTW you can still vote for my next color. One week left. Drop me a line with your color choice. The choices are red or green. I will post a picture of the new colors next Wednesday by the latest.

Okay all I went with bright green. Within the past month I have had two milestones towards a fuller smile. I had the surgery (I am proud to admit that I barely touched the pain meds the doc prescribed), and just yesterday I got the first tray for the RWB system. I don't know which hurts worse the bottom teeth or the top teeth when i go to eat.
