I was able to pop into my dentist's office this morning to have him look at two teeth that I noticed the other day had brown stains near the gumline. I over brush my teeth and have some gum recession as a result. In addition, because I tend to grind my teeth, I have cracked teeth in the past. So, it appears that what I've got are two spots where my grinding (or brushing...either can be a culprit) where some enamel has chipped off my teeth. But, at this point we will just keep an eye on them since there is no sensitivity and no sign of decay. Another thing OFF my mind today. Gotta get back to work.

While there I got some soft bristled toothbrushes and a Shower Floss.

Thanks to everyone for their good wishes! You all ROCK!

I went for my adjustment today and everything is looking good. Ortho didn't touch the upper wire, I just got new ligs on it. On the lower wire he added a couple of detailing bends for lower left incisor and had wire tires put on the left front incisor and the left cuspid (to rotate). And then he said, "A couple more four week visits and we should be able take them off."

 Say what?

So...it's starting to look like a July debanding date. Keeping my fingers crossed, but it looks like the end just may be in sight!

Woohoo!!!!

One weird thing ... tonight I felt a weird "pop" like a wire tie might have broken. I inspected but couldn't find anything odd. And the ligs cover the wire ties, so I'll just have to wait to see if the wire comes loose.

Yeah, I am worried about the pop too. Like I said, I am just going to have to wait and see if it works it's way out. That happened to me way back when (pre-op) with another wire tie. I never felt that one pop, but suddenly I started getting poked Really Bad.

Well, if all goes well, I should be getting my braces off on July 30th. That is our tentatively scheduled date IF my left lower cuspid rotates properly. The wire tie that was put on it five+ weeks ago didn't budge it at all. So, now I've got a wedge and a super duper wired cuspid. It's sore, so maybe that means progress.

Keeping my fingers crossed, but not holding my breath.

One pure positive from today's ortho visit: No more elastics!!

Well, I woke up with a very sore left jaw this morning and had to resort to Advil. As soon as my new digital camera arrives, I'll take some pics.

Yes, the wedge is indeed an effective tool. They used one on my upper right cuspid a couple of months ago and it didn't take long.

Cautiously optimistic...

We shall see. My new digital camera is on it's way, so my teeth will be first on my list to take pics of.

Sleeping without elastics for the first time in eight months is weird. They actually held my mouth closed. Now My mouth drops open at night and I'm back to the nightly dry mouth of my early-in-braces days.

Ah well!

nvcarissa I'm getting nervous about having elastics. All this talk about them is scaring me! LOL!

Anyhow, I bet it's pretty liberating to be finally free of them.

Laurie, the elastics aren't that bad, just a nuisance like Meryaten says. But they work. So, when you get them, wear them.

And yeah, I am about at the end of my tether with these braces. All the major changes have been made and the fine tuning just starts wearing on a body.
