Slimjim's Red, White , and Blue Story

#1 Post by slimjim »

Well I started out with two somewhat crowded and crooked teeth. I went to the orthodontist to see what my options were and was surprised to find out all the stuff out there for correcting crooked teeth. I had never had orthodontic work done and was in my early 20's when i started. After looking at my teeth the orthodontist saw things that i would have never noticed such as me having a narrow arch. After he brought this to my attention i noticed it and became somewhat obssesed with getting a perfect set of teeth. His options were for me to go with a full invisalign which was pretty much out of my financial means: or red white and blue system which he kinda thought would work better for me. So i went with the red white and blue system because of the price and his salesmanship. He told me that he was going to try to widen my arch with the aligners to make room for my crowded teeth. Its a funny thing to go in thinking you have good teeth then someone tells you the little things that can be improved and you start to notice it. Im on my second set of trays now and i cant really tell a difference in the appearance of my teeth but i know that when i switch trays my teeth ache for about two days so i guess its working.

im workin on getting pictures up

This is after my second aligner/ 5 weeks of treatment. The only changes ive noticed is that my arch looks a little wider. Most people ive read about on red white and blue wear their trays for 6 weeks, my ortho seems to think 4 gets the job done. Im not really sure how many more sets i have to wear but i do know that on my box it says 2nd aligner in a series of two. There better be another series because my bottom teeth are still pretty crowded.

Thanks for helpin me out with those pictures karen, i think i see how to do it now. And to what you said Meryaten, I trust my ortho and I think he'll figure a way to get my bite right again after my teeth are straight. I can bite down all the way i just have to pull my lower jaw in and its pretty unnatural. Whats amazing to me is how after just a few days in the new aligner my teeth have already shifted and now the trays just slip on and dont feel painfully tight. Ill give an update when i get the next trays at the end of the month.... until then
