First some backgroud. I have always been happy with the straightness of my teeth. However it was pointed out to me about 3yrs ago that my teeth protrude quite abit. (I was blissfully unaware of this~lol) But now that I know it really annoys me so that is why I decided to get braces. At my consult I discovered I have a 6mm overjet and my midline is off. And that I would need one tooth extracted and wear braces approx. 28mths. (boy I really hope that is an exaggerrated estimate!).
I have since had my tooth extracted and am waiting the two weeks for it to heal. Then I will get spacers. Wait a week. And due to get braces on July 9th.
Here are my before pics.
Natural smile.
Better view of midline being off.
And the dreaded side views. My protruding teeth. Please, please let braces correct this!
You were blessed with a pretty smile, your lips frame your teeth like a painting. I think when your ortho journey is completed your smile will be a work of art. I'm sure it will be worth the wait and minor inconveniences.
Thank you all for the very nice and encouraging comments. I will admit while I sit here with one tooth missing (the one I had extracted). I'm quite nervous if I've made the right decision. But no turning back now~lol.
Your teeth have a great shape and color. Once treatment is done, they will look perfect! Sometimes treatment doesn't take as long as the original estimate so I wouldn't worry too much.
Good luck!
Ceramic Braces and RPE, estimated treatment 18 months
I would be happy to have your current smile after the treatment
Superb teeth you've got. I am sure these problems you have will be solved with the treatment and you'll posses even a better smile ... good luck on your journey, it's gonna be shorter and more pleasant than most of our journeys
I agree with the others, when you are finished with your treatment your teeth will be perfect. You were blessed with beautiful lips which just enhances your smile. I'm jealous.
How are you doing with the spacers? If they don't bother you the rest of the treatment is going to be a snap.
Good luck and look forward to following your progress.
Now day 4 of spacers and actually they do bother me a bit. Just soreness. And the annoying feeling I have alot of steak stuck in my teeth~lol. But manageable. Heres some pics of the spacers and extracted tooth. It will be so exciting for me to be able to look back here at my progress.
... annoying feeling I have alot of steak stuck in my teeth
Haven't come across that description before! Something stuck inbetween their teeth, yes, but a steak, that's a first
Hope the soreness and annoying "wedged steak" feeling dissipate soon!
Well the day they were put in thats how I was told they would feel. Like I had pieces of chicken or steak stuck between my teeth. And for me thats been accurate~lol.
This time tomorrow I should be posting pics of my new braces I go in the morning to get them. I'm excited. But just hope I don't want to hideout in the house for the next 28mths~lol. No really reading all of your braces stories has helped ease my anxiety over life in braces so much. I am glad to have found this board.
Well its official. I have braces!! I don't understand some of the process done to me today but I'll just have to read up on here to get educated
I went in this morning at 1020. when I scheduled this appt. I told them I HAD to pick my daughter up from dance camp at 1200. They said no problem. Well after waiting 20mins to get started I reminded them I had to leave no later than 1140. Well then I was informed to get the braces on would take 1 1/2 to 2 hrs. (apparently the person who I spoke with when this time was scheduled wasn't aware of that). So I thought I was going to have to reschedule. But they decided to bond me rather than band me. (this is the part I'm a little confused by).
In bonding me I was able to get my braces on today since it takes much less time to do. They just said I had to be more careful with them now because they weren't as durable as the original method I was due to get.(one actually already popped off while I was still there). I was assured this wouldn't affect my treatment time or the effectiveness of the braces. Oh and I guess I pretty much had spacers for NOTHING! Since you don't need them going this route. Maybe some of you can elighten me on the difference of bonding and banding?????
I will post pics soon when I feel like smiling big enough for a decent pic.
