Becoming a brace face tomarrow!

#1 Post by pharrstarr »

Well, I'm taking the first of large steps to making my mouth heathy and happy! I was nervous at first when I decided to make this decision as an adult. I was told I needed braces and surgery as a teen, but I knew my mother couldn't afford it. Now that I'm much older, I can afford it. I also have a MUCH more appreciation for the entire process since I am paying. Those 15 yrs ago dentists said 5 yrs in braces and 2 jaw surgeries in that time. My new ortho says 2 yrs in braces, 1 corrective surgey, and palate expander. I know I can do this succesfully. I'm getting ceramics on both top and bottom tomarrow morning, so I'm eating what i want for today! Naturally I'm a bit nervous, although I've been reading many of the stories and am feeling more confident about everything. :D

Good luck on your brace day! KK gives great advice. I would also suggest that you go eat something that you have to chew right after your appointment. You won't be sore yet and that will help get the blood circulating.
