I am getting a little achy off and on. It seems to be cycling through my teeth, but not enough to really put me out. (so far, I'm not going to count it out quite yet!)

It's mainly those two upper centrals and my lower canines that ache.

My husband keeps expecting me to fall to the floor writhing in pain or something, and seems slightly disappointed I'm not laying on the couch with one arm delicately thrown over my forehead, begging him to wait on me hand and foot. I really should have taken advantage, but I guess it's too late now ;)

He'll probably have his chance next month when I get spacers. :D

I looked a little more closely at my "wonky" lig and it appears that there is a little hunk of glue stuck where the lig would go on that side. I'll mention it on my next visit since they said it would be fine til then :D

Anyway, holy powerchain! The gap between my two front teeth is definitely smaller today, as I can no longer fit my regular size proxibrush between them, and there are VISIBLE spaces between them and the laterals that were certainly NOT there before.

Interestingly enough, my centrals are not sore - but the laterals are.

Now, all four of my bottom front teeth are rather "ow" when I touch them, but its eased when I brush.

I also finally snapped a pic of my giftbag thingy.

(yes I'm aware my ortho's info is visible, Miss Smiley referred me there, so it's already out there on the board)

SORE! LOL.

Not as intensely sore, but yesterday my two front uppers were SCREAMING. Today they are much less sore, and much closer together.

The soreness still seems to cycle between teeth, which is a weird feeling, but lowering in intensity each day.

Today they're not really all that sore unless I use the wafers, so I stopped - or bite weird (which I do a LOT because my front teeth are moving fairly quickly).

I have mastered chewing pretty much whatever I want to eat on my molars, so I will enjoy the next month of being able to do that until I get my spacers in. Last night was Sushi, yum.

5 Days (wow)

Stuff is definitely moving already. It's amazing.

My two front teeth are creeping ever so slowly closer together, and my bite is just all off and wonky. It's annoying as heck, but it means things are moving and that makes me happy.

I can also see that my lower arch is starting to round out and widen on the right side, so its starting to have more of the proper U shape, instead of a wavy U.

Exciting stuff.

My lateral incisors and premolars hate me today, but bitewafers are my friend.

Update 7/10 - Spacers

#70 Post by Pixel Witch »

Today was spacers day.

I was in and out of the office in less than five minutes. I got there about 15 minutes early, went right in, and was home before my appointment was even supposed to begin.

Gotta love it :D

It was easy as pie, but as the assistant said - those teeth were pretty tight so I WILL be sore later, so I am planning a nice big lunch :)

Next Thursday, I go in to have my molar bands fitted with my appliance, then spacers go back in, and then a week after THAT, band + appliance installation and my first adjustment + lig change.

I am holding off posting progress photos until I get an adjustment - (my plan is to ONLY take pics for adjustments so I can track my progress) but I decided that spacer photos are ok.

The blue makes my teeth look yellow - I will NOT be getting blue ligs, ever hehe.

Maybe they'd look different on the front of my teeth, rather than next to the biting surfaces? I also have sealant, maybe that's it?

Well, my spacers have been a complete non-issue. I can't even feel them.

It drives me nuts that there are eight spaces I am not allowed to floss, but other than that.... no sweat.

I've had quite the lucky time of it so far. I'm guessing the appliance will be where it finally snags me.

Adjustment #1 (mini) - July 19, 2007

#75 Post by Pixel Witch »

Yesterday was supposed to just get fitted for my molar bands, and new impressions with the bands in for my appliance.

All of that was pretty uneventful (aside from being sore today from all of the putting on of bands and taking them off, and then re-inserting the spacers)

But my ortho came in, poked around a little and decided I could change my ligs this week instead of next week. Minor, yes - but yay for me! My light purples were starting to get dingy.

So, I got my wires clipped and reset, ortho checked my baby canine and seemed pleased, and doubly pleased with my two front teeth progress so far.

Next week I get my bands put in with my appliance. Yay :(

So..

Here is me smiling because I have ligs that aren't dingy!

And here is me opening up my bite for a better look.

I was so happy, and then on the way home I decided to make a pit stop at CVS for some hairbands (it was HOT and I wanted to put my hair up). When I finished shopping. I went to my car and sat around for maybe 10 minutes relaxing, listening to the radio and piling my hair on top of my head with the hairbands I bought.

I went to leave and noticed the mini SUV in the spot directly behind me had their brake lights on, so I waited to see if they were backing out. And waited, and waited - and she started messing with her hair in her visor mirror, so I pulled out.

I have a tiny, tiny car (new beetle) and so I don't have to pull back as much to get out of a spot. I was pulled out enough to where I had put my car into drive and start straightening my car slowly, making sure I could clear the car parked beside me. I glanced in my rearview one last time out of habit, and just in time to see her reverse lights go on and immediately begin backing out. I panic and try to make sure I can clear that other parked car so I can get the hell out of the way, and at the same time I am BEEPING horn over and over and over again and then CRACK.

So I put my car into park, and get out to look. I have a hunk of paint scraped off of my back bumper and a dent/hole next to my license plate. I am calm, because I figure that she just didn't see my tiny little car from her SUV and it will just be exchanging of insurance info and be done. She was an older woman, maybe in her 60's and tiny. She looked like a school teacher. And she starts yelling at me! I think she thought with the braces that I was much younger than I was and could bully me. I stand there gaping at her, and I'm like.. you hit ME! I had my car in drive and was pulling away when you backed out - and I BEEPED my horn about 30 times and you kept coming.

And she gets this really condescending look on her face and says I don't think so, I think you were in a hurry and didn't look before you backed out. So I am getting angry and I relay back to her exactly what I did before I backed out and she starts arguing with me. And then the car on the other side of me, the people came out of the store and I was blocking them, so I said I am just pulling out of the way, and then we can call the police be right back. SO I pulled into a spot two spots away. And as I get out of the car with my stuff, she TAKES OFF.

I tried to chase her down on foot enough to get her license plate number, and then tried to snap a pic with my cellphone, but no luck. Only got the first number and a good description so I called the police and filed a report.

Conveniently nobody in the lot while I am waiting for the cop will admit to seeing the accident or the woman driving off. Including a guy who was sitting about two feet away. Whatever.

Luckily, I went back to CVS about 30 min later with my husband to see if the camera outside was pointed at the spot so I could make sure the police got that if it did, and one of the kids working there told me he saw the entire thing, and described the entire accident! I guess he was on his way into work and didn't see her running off on me and figured that it was fine. So he offered to be a witness and gave his name and number and I forwarded to the officer who took my statement.

I am SO irritated right now :(

But I got new ligs!
