OKay, I had my ortho appointment this morning. It was fun, the girls were really funny since it wasn't all chaotic like a Saturday morning appointment. They removed the spacer but due to the position of the crown on my wisdom tooth, they can't band it. HAHAHA! One of the girls was really itching to band me since I had been taunting her that it couldn't be done today. I got away scott free with another bonded tube. WOOHOO! NO cleats for me sucker! The ortho hinted that if this bond didn't stay until the next appointment, that the wisdom would have to come out. =P We'll just see about that one. They were impressed that I had the mister cut the loose end of the wire off. They asked if I used nail clippers and went on to tell them how the wire had actually put dents and a hole in the clipping edge. So the were curious to know what I had actually used,, I told them "it was the greasy, heavy duty, wire cutters from my mister's tool box." Hahaha They were impressed by such little action I had. Imagine if Lisa65 was one of their patients. HAHAHA I had curry last night, and this morning my ligs were neon! I walked into the office and smiled the girls said "OH MY GOSH! HOW MUCH CURRY DID YOU HAVE?!" I told them it was just from 2 bowls. The ortho passed by and said "You need to change those ties out, UGH." Fun appointment, I think I'll bake some cupcakes for my next appointment and bring it for the girls.

You crack me up.. That sounds like such a fun visit. I love it when you go in somewhere and have a good time w/the people working. I'm glad I haven't had to do any diy ortho yet. I'm crossing my fingers though.

Have a great weekend!!

Kiwi and Metalmom, I think I find my ortho appts very amusing, almost like visiting my buddies. I will post some pictures of my improvement since last month. It's been a while, I've been turned off by my camera since my favorite one passed. I guess I'm still in the grieving process.

So sorry about the camera, smiley. It's fun reading about your ortho visits, anyway, sounds as though you have a great time.
I should do what you do and schedule my curry on nights before I have an adjustment. Isn't it funny how curry makes clear ligs look glow in the dark?! They don't tell you that before you decide on the ceramic brackets... Or maybe it was just me - I must have missed the memo.

Thanks Karen. I knew that the ligatures are one in the same between ceramic and metal, I was merely pointing out that some of us who opt for the ceramic brackets in hopes that they will be less noticeable are more likely to go with the clear ligs, and upon eating curry, it makes the whole set up look pretty awful. Black it is, for me!

I've decided to live with the clear, it's only a couple more years. *sigh*

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I took my niece to Disneyland for a few hours and she started getting sleepy and somewhat cranky so we left. Since she's 5, my mom was worried that she'd wake up in the middle of the night looking for her mom so I slept next to her. She woke me up about 3 times because she tosses and turns, literally goes in circles like the 3 Stooges on the floor. You know when they propell themselves on their side and their feet go around. Well, guess how she woke me. She kicked me on the side of my face each time. Now one of my molars seems really loose and the gum around it is starting to turn white. It was a molar which had a root canal, it doesn't really hurt, it just aches a bit and gets annoying. Do you think I should be worried? My cheek around feels bruised but doesn't really bother me unless I touch it. *sigh* If it's not one thing, it's another.

I say go with the morning breath. It will be a vicarious revenge for me and my dental assistant's smoker breath. I'm pretty sure she lights up right before every one of my appointments.

Fun stuff Smiley! I have a 6 yo daughter and when she sleeps with me she does the same thing. When she does settle in it's almost always with her feet in my face. lol Luckily the few times she sneeks into Mom & Dad's bed are few and far between...

BUY A CAMERA!! haha I've got to break down and go get one too. I want one of those nifty little wands they have at the dentist that go w/the computer so I can really get in there and get some pics! haha I need to google and see if I can buy one.

Karen, thanks for the advice. It seems to have settled today, the annoyance is gone. If it falls out, oh well, my brother's an OS, he'll give me an implant. But yesterday I was making sure to drink enough water, hopefully that helped my gums regenerate enough to bounce back from the trauma.

DavidT, I actually brush before I go in now. The assistants I have all smell like flowers and are really nice, so I don't want to push a button or gross them out. Hehehee

Metalmom, you're hilarious, intraoral camera, you'll be putting out some hard earned money. I have a camera but it's just not the same as the one who passed. I'm looking to get a digital SLR within the next month but this will be an upgrade from my 35mm SLR, not a replacement for the last canon. Between ortho and new camera, I'll be broke for Christmas. :( My niece is 5, I guess that's just what they do until they get a bit older or fall off the bed too much.

Here are some pictures after my Sep. 14 adjustment.

*ouch!* I definitely have been kicked in the face by a kid before, but never by a five year old! Glad things are feeling better.

Quick note about cameras -- you mentioned getting a digital SLR... I have the spammy DSLR100. I think I paid about $800 for it at the beginning of July, and I never use it for my braces photos. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE my SLR camera. However, I have a 5mp Canon Digital Elph that was $450 in the summer of 2005, and it's never failed me. In fact, though I don't necessarily fancy myself as much of a photographer, here are some photos I've taken with my little Elph. It's fantastic little camera.

Good luck on picking a new camera! PS: I ALWAYS brush my teeth thoroughly before any sort dental or ortho appointment, no matter what the specialist's breath smells like! I can relate.....

Karen - Let's pray to the teeth God to make me some changes!

MommaDucky - I love Canon's quality which is why I'm looking into a 30D but I'm not sure my wallet can take such an impact as I will be going back to school for 2 days a week. I wanted an SLR because I like to take long distance photos of boys on their motorcycles at the track. More and more I've grown to like taking long distance photos and fast moving things. I do have my little Olympus Stylus but some night shots come out too grainy to be used for anything but blog postings or reference photos. I'm an art major and I am kind of particular about certain traits in my materials. I'm lame, I know. I'm probably still one of the weirdo people who mixes dry color pigment into liquid form to mix with a medium for painting. I still use a kick wheel to throw pottery, I feel I have less control with electric. I find something and I stick to what I know and like. Old fashioned? Maybe. I just re-read this post and I feel like such a nerd.

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!! I was eating a chicken pot pie and lost that same bracket! I must have swallowed it. It was no where to be found in my mouthful of pot pie. And I know I had it before I ate because my tongue was running over it. LOVELY! I guess mister Wisdom has to come out now. :(

Ah, well.... it was probably inevitable. Bummer to hear that though. Hopefully it didn't ruin your meal of pot pie! That sounds so good right now... I haven't had pot pie for ages.

Thanks for the sympathy Karen!!!

Mommaducky - It surely did not ruin my meal. I enjoyed it even more since I wasn't worrying about that pesky bracket.

So, I called my brother to ask him to make an exception and have him come in to his office to pull my mister Wisdom on a Saturday but he said "NO!! Just schedule with the office and use a sick day. I don't want to come in and not have any help on a Saturday!" Sheesh... I volunteered my sis in law since she's a GD and he still said no. So I guess I'll be having that tooth out on Thursday. MAN, this will put a damper on my anniversary weekend with the mister. The mister is thinking of getting all 4 of his wisdoms pulled same day since I'll be able to drive him home. He's scared...He wants me to hold his hand through out and be there when he wakes up. I'll be having local since it's not fully impacted and it's only one tooth. At least it did part of it's job by pushing my other teeth forward to make my left gap close a bit faster than the right. This adventure seems to get more and more complicated by the month.

**EDIT**
I have my extraction for next Tuesday at 4:30, I managed to convince the girls to stay a bit later for me. I owe them some goodies for that one.

Playing mother to him makes me not want to have kids. This big kid is a big handful. Thanks for the hope of all this madness settling down. My cleaning is tomorrow, they had originally scheduled me to have the dentist do it but they changed me to the hygienist. No big deal, if I don't like her, I can always schedule with the doctor in 3 months or so. Being a mouth breather is horrible, tartar builds up so fast!!!!! Even with my insane regimen, I stilll find small deposits along the back of my lower teeth. Some times my mouth gets so dry in the middle of the night, I have to wake up and drink some water. It's a good thing the mister is used to his dad snoring because my snores are just as bad. I blame it on the dry mouth.
