Hello!! YAY for having the same B'day! Cool. How has your first day been going?

Its 6am on the 15th here in Aus and I woke up with a little more pain from my braces. Gonna show them off to my workmates today. :)

Hi!

My bite is similiar to yours. I have a 90% overbite. Therefore, my ortho has decided to brace my lowers and give me a bite plate to wear and then 3-4 months later brace my uppers. By then, hopefully I will not be able to bite off my bottom brackets.

Interested to hear how your mini screws experience goes. I think my ortho mentioned that I may have to also have this done. NOT looking forward to that!

Good luck on your journey!

Thanks Kitty. First few days have actually been pretty easy. Other than the general getting used to the mouthfull, I've had really no pain at all. A few mildly sensitive teeth, but that's it. I hope you're doing OK!

Braced32, thanks for stopping by! I guess I have a class II overbite. Whatever that means. I'll have to look into the bite plate and see what it does. It'd be nice if it allows you to chew comfortably. I'll have the mini screws done in about two months. I was nerved up and ready for them when I had the braces put on. I'll have to gear up for them again in a few months. From what I've read, it doesn't seem too painfull. I'll keep you up to date with them.

OK, I've been braced for about a week and a half. Finally comfortable with them. I don't even really need the wax anymore.

This morning I had my two back upper bicuspids pulled. Pulling wasn't too bad. Snapped off some roots on the first attempt. Was able to get them out with some kind of puller though. 2nd one came out without a problem. Still waiting for the feeling to come back. Chewing on gauze and all that fun stuff. I'll be going back to the ortho in two weeks to have a full upper wire put on.

I haven't noticed any change yet, but it's only been a week and a half. Just glad to be somewhat comfortable with the mouthfull. Hopefully the extractions heal without any issues.
