Chinalove's: Life With Braces

#1 Post by chinalove »

hello all, i'm 19 and it's been 2 days since i got my braces placed (so far it's been a pain in the #$$ lol). i've always wanted to get braces to straighten my teeth (my left canine is misaligned) this obviously causes my midlines to be mis-matched and i also have an overbite but it's not that serious. hopefully i'll be able to post up pics as my treatment progresses. well since i got my braces in, it feels weird under my lips but i am still getting used to this feeling. i can also feel my cheeks "toughening" up. eating is really uncomfortable for me right now... i am basically living off of baby food (applesauce, jello, and soup). i cannot chew, yet alone clutch my upper and lower jaw together because of the sensitivity. FLOSSING is an absolute pain for me but i know it'll take getting used to. anyways..... i'm happy that i can share my story with you guys and i look forward to bringing you more updates (and reading yours as well).

Congrats on making one of the best investments in yourself!! You will feel sore/tender for the next couple of days. Mine lasted 5 days...I couldn't chew and eating sucked!!! But there is light at the end of the tunnel so just hang in there.

Looking forward to your progress! Take lots of pics and you will be surprised to all the movement that will be happening in the near future!

Your around my age, did your friends make fun of you for your desision to get them? Mine did! Hopefully you have a really good support group.
What happened at your consult? Mine is a week away and I have no idea what to expect.
Post some pics to track your progress.

Good luck,
Laranna

thanks every1!

response to: laranna.... i told a couple of my friends who are back in my hometown AFTER i got braced and none of them re-acted in that way... (& even if they did they won't really be called "friends" would they?) yes i would say that they were supportive. a couple of them were even thinking of getting braces too although their cases aren't that serious lol it's sort of encouraging actually. i will admit though that i am self-conscious about it when i speak bcoz i'm still having problems saying some words. it's so funny.

okay @ my consult u mean when i got my braces placed or my very first visit?? well getting the braces on was totally PAINLESS, you have nothing to worry about. umm with my visit before getting braced, i got my x-rays done, including photoshots (close-ups and also side pics of my face to show before and after of how my jaw would improve) hope the info helps and yes look out for pics real soon =] OHH btw... today was a good day, my gums aren't in that amount pain like y.day, eating is better but i'm still on soft foods.
