Wow i'm 26 and just now finally got braces

#1 Post by jlove »

 My name is Julie i'm 26 years old and I just got braces Feb 14th Yep Valentine's Day! :D Ive wanted braces for years now, but my parents thought investing in my smile was pointless. So as a Valentines gift my husband financed my new braces for me.I had to do alot of prior dental work before I could get my braces.I had alot of cavities that needed to be taken care of first .To make a long story short my teeth looked way worse...I don't have any 1st day pics in my new braces I didn't take any.I wasn't really feeling them at all.Now I must say they grew on me and i'm no longer ashamed. So this is my starting point I can't wait to see my finished result.

Congrats from another fellow 26 y/o in braces! You'll be amazed at how quickly your teeth will move in the first few weeks/months alone!

Have a good one!

Good for you! My parents couldn't afford braces for me, either, so I lived with it until 2.5 years ago, when I was 48, if you can believe that. Now I have a great smile for the first time ever and it was worth it. The time in braces whizzed by and they've been off for about 24 hours now and I am so glad I did it.

Hi Julie! Welcome to the club. I'm 26 too and got braced about 4 months ago. I'm so excited for you! What a great present from the husband too! Dang! :D

In looking at your pics, it seems that we share a few things in common with our teeth. Check out my story and photos if you'd like. I look forward to following your story and seeing your progress! :D

How long will you have your braces?

Take care.

Wow! I am 32 and get mine in a couple of weeks! I hope I look as good as you do!

Nice to know that I am not the only one who has parents that are completely against the braces! My hubby is the one that told me if I wanted them, he was totally behind me.

We have such good husbands! :D

Kara we do have things common.I loved your story hell I loved everyones story :D Yeah braces by far is the best present anyone could ever give me(besides my kids) lol. The sad part is my parents could afford braces for me they just didn't wanna do it.My mom seems to think , because I'm half Asian bad teeth was in my genes to begin with. :x Also gave me some crap about how people who care about little things such as teeth are shallow and need a reality check. My mom has really bad teeth herself, but makes it a point to bring up how ugly my teeth are when were in public. I think she has some self issues she needs to workout.Maybe that's why she didn't wanna get my braces who knows!?! I know that when it's time for my kids to get braces I wouldn't even think twice.

The thing that gets me is how some people think that wanting a beautiful smile isn't important..
I for one am sick of taking pictures that make me look mad or upset all because I never smile. The fact that I don't smile makes some people perceive me differently

Congratulations on being pregnant!!!

As far as the gap goes, I see why you're angry. You should ask your ortho what his/her thoughts on this gap and when he/she plans on fixing it.

Your teeth look beautiful otherwise.
Talking about tooth movement to people with braces is like talking to a woman about her first born child.
Yes, there has been movement.
Yes, that is by far the cutest baby I have ever seen.

Crowding of top and bottom teeth
Severe overjet
18-24 month treatment time
