Wow, all braced up, well 50%, looking at your pics before and after, i think the new ones look better, weird huh, when the mis allignment is as extreme as ours the results should be really noticable, theres 2 teeth in my head ive barely ever seen, the face that there my front top incisors.

Im so glad your bday went ok, got my video camera and tripod ready to start my video diary.

Thanks for keeping an eye on my story, being braced so close together makes it nice to follow eachothers progress, hopefullly by the end of it, we'll both have nice looking laughing gear!

Promise me youll take it easy over the next few days, they say its the worse time, all the negative thoughts will come flooding in, but again when cases are quite extreme your even more motivated to get it fixed,

sorry im babblin, its friday night and ive had a few beers :)

big hug \o/

Thanks for hittin up my story! It's hard to stay motivated when it hurts so much but I agree that my teeth look better with the braces! With such big problems I am also planning for fast results at least with the worst teeth and I can't wait!
I woke up in pain about 3 am with my jaw throbbing but just kept remembering what the outcome will be! Extra Strength tyelonl is def my best friend right now.

So it's day number 3 of braces and I don't have to take tylenol every 4 hrs anymore so that is a plus. But my front teeth still feel odd, not sure how to describe it but I def can't chew on my front 6 teeth. I am getting a second set of spacers put on April 1st (what an april fools day joke eh) and last time this happened I couldn't eat with my back teeth so I guess I can't eat with any of my teeth for that entire week. UGH I am going to have to get creative with my food choices as I work 12 hr shifts in which I have to eat at my desk (2 on shift at all times).

I had a question about soda as well. Everything keeps saying to drink them in one sitting....how long is one sitting because before braces I would drink 3-4 (I know its a lot but 12 hrs is a long time) while at work so I cut it down to 1-2 depending on the day and rinse through out with water because I don't want to suck it down in 20 min, then I would just drink more sodas. So is that still bad or will it be ok as long as I swish with water often?

Thanks for all your support and guidance through this process.

Hi Twinjoy,

How is it going? I bet you that when you get spacers for the lowers, they probably won't be so bad. I don't remember the spacer thing from way back when and I didn't have them this time around.

As far as the soda thing goes, if you're going to drink it, I would definitely use a straw. I'd also keep a bottle of water nearby so you can swish. I'd also get up an brush your teeth. I heard that you should wait 30 minutes before doing so, but don't hold me to that. I've only had 2 diet cokes since I got my braces on 2 months ago. I drink a ton of coffee (hot and iced) and a lot of iced tea.

Did you do a search in regards to drinking soda. Maybe you'll find something there, or it not, start a new thread.

Take care,

B

Hi Twinjoy,

Just reading up on your story and thought I'd stop in and say hi and a happy belated b'day!! :-)o

As far as soda(pop, we call it here in Canada..hehe), I've heard from a lot of ppl that you should try to drink it all in a short period of time, as opposed to sipping it all day, rinse your mouth out with water and wait half an hour before brushing(but make sure you do brush). It has something to do with the acid in the pop that weakens the enamel and if you brush right away, you could do more harm then good to the surface of your teeth.

Hope this helps :D . I look forward to following your story!!
Keep smilin'! :)

So first of all things have been pretty uneventful with braces so far. Not really any pain, just don't do anything with my front teeth.

But I am starting to get concerened. The front tooth that I call my "snaggletooth" (I am sure you know what I mean if you have seen my pics) is the tooth that I want moved the most. It doesn't seem to have anywhere to go but further out.

The teeth on either side of it are behind it and the front tooth on the left a good half of it is behind the other. I don't see where they are going to make room for this tooth to go back into place. I was hoping to make it closer in line in two months but it doesn't seem to have any potential.

Anyway other then that things are going good but still no movement.

I just read your story! Wow.......I moved back to the states from Misawa AFB about 2 years ago! Loved, loved, loved Japan! Totally off subject but thank you for your service to our country. Hubby is active duty Air Force so I know how it is.

Back to braces! They look great! I like hearing that it won't be the end of the world! I am soooo looking forward to getting mine on! I will definitely keep track of your story!

Hi Twinjoy! So sorry you've had a rough time lately. I hope things get better soon. That sucks about having to get spacers. If you read my story... you know how much I hated them. Pasta worked best for me as far as food goes. Just cut everything up small enough to swallow with minimal chewing. :D Plus, it's way more filling than the whole soup diet! :D

Hang in there on that tooth coming back. I promise... those braces are making room for those front teeth to line up beautifully!!! I'm crossing my fingers for you! You'll see progress soon! Keep your head up. :D

Nothing going on much today, still can't bite down with me front teeth. Will I be able to bite down with them at all while I have braces or do I just need to get used to cutting up all my food and placing it in the back of my mouth the chew?

Does anyone know about Ankyloose (sp?) teeth? Meaning they are fused to the bone. My ortho said at the begining of my treatment that my front tooth might be that. I am not sure how long it takes to know if it is or not and I also have no idea what they will do if it is. So if anyone knows more about it please let me know!

HI there, I will tell you, YES you wil be able to eat. I am braced on left upper side, and it took me a good long time to be able to eat over there, and now I am back at the beginning again since my last adjustment. Its a doozy, my mouth kills right now and I have to sit at work. But it looks like you are moving right along. Im going to keep up with your story, i have/ had a snaggle tooth also! Good luck to you.

Hi Twinjoy! I hope you're feeling better soon!

You'll be able to bite into things with your front teeth eventually but it wont be the same. I mean... I wouldnt reccommend eating corn on the cob or anything. :D That might be tough. You'll be able to bite into a sandwich and such though. Just give it time and you'll be feeling back to 'normal' soon. :D

Hang in there! *hugs* It will get better.

April Fools day is here and gone and the joke is on me! I am now the proud owner of a week of spacers.

I went in the the clinic thinking my appt was a t 2. I checked in and the asst looked at me funny and said "you do know your appt is at 2:30 right?" of course I said no and had to sit watching the news in the waiting room for half an hour. Finally it was my turn and as I sat in the chair my 4 spacers where sitting on the tray waiting for me. The tech put them all in with lots of trouble due to my small mouth and the spacers going in the very back. After she was done the doc came and checked things out. He told me I have had a small amount of movement and that at my first adjustment he will be putting in my lower braces!

A couple hours after my apt....of course not until after the office closed... I noticed the spacer on my lower right molar is falling out and the wire on my uppers is poking my cheek on the right. So tomorrow morning I will be going in to have them both fixed.

The good news is that the upper spacers I don't even notice. I imagine this is because the braces already had time to move my teeth around. But my lowers feel the same as when I had them put on the first time. So long story short, things are going well and I will soon be fully braced!
