How long does the pain last?

#1 Post by nocolddrinks »

Hi guys.

I am glad I found this blog. My non-braces friends think I am being extra when I tell them my teeth hurt when the cold air touches it. Does anybody here have that kind of experience? Also, it hurts so much when I drink cold stuff... I feel like someone hit me in my mouth after I have a cold drink :x ... so I have resorted to bringing straws everywere I go.

I am wondering if it's because my teeth were already set (I am 23) why they are 'fighting' the braces? lol

Well that's part of my story. I look forward to interacting with you.

Sorry but I don't have good news: I've had my braces about 8 months and I STILL have temperature sensitivity :soremouth: For me it's one molar in particular and it can be quite painful especially with cold drinks or food. I've heard explanations about moving teeth having exposed roots, but this tooth does have a filling so I'm not sure if it's that. I have tried the special toothpastes for sensitivity, but they did not work for me :(

It's really not that bad - just intense pain for a second or two

Hi LynB. Well the first few days were painful. Then they were OK for the next two weeks. But... the day before I had to go get them tightened... this excruciating pain set in! I then realized I could have cold stuff anymore... because for like 10 seconds... it feels like someone's pulling all my front teeth out (mostly the top ones).

While she was switching the elasting, I told the orthodontist I was in pain... and she was not very comforting... and somehow my top and bottom teeth closed on her fingers

That was about 4 weeks ago... and I am dreading my next tightening on April 16

I now have to walk with straws to have all my cold drinks.

I wouldnt wish this pain on my worst enemy

Hi married...

I just bought one of those special toothpastes as well... and I am praying that it works. I am closing several gaps... AND bringing down a slight overbite... and I am wondering if it's the double whammy why my teeth are fighting back

I dont have any fillings or removed teeth etc... so I dont know I am in so much pain. Hope we find something that works!
