Thanks for posting in my story! congrats on moving forward despite what your parents think. It's funny how we (and I) still kinda seek approval from them but still do what we think is best....which is the right thing to do in the end. We'll both be so happy when the process is over and we are happy to smile big and more often. Supportive Hubbys rule!

Nice pics and good luck on your journey! I enjoyed your story about flossing – I had some panic attacks too by tangling my floss. Those dang back molar hooks just do not cooperate. Plus it is hard to get a good angle in the mirror when wearing bi-focals. I hope the tenderness goes away soon and you can enjoy your braces more.

Honestly today I am not near as bad! I do feel like there is someone with a paper towel in there drying out my mouth!

They don't feel near as big today and for a while I even forgot they were there. It gets better!

Hi Bekah,

Wow i missed a few postings, congratualtions on getting braced, loving all the "gurning" photos sort of essential when showing off braces. Now a month in i dont feel my braces unless i think about them,

I go in for my adjustment on tuesday which im looking forward to, next step kind of thing,

I didnt have any abbrasivness until about a week ago, but it came and went pretty quickly, im eager to have my ligs off, as they are practically glowing after a month of coffee, curry and wine! (detox from monday i reckon!)

congrats and keep the pics coming

Soooo true about the dry mouth feeling!! I felt exactly the same way when I first got braced...that's because I am not a big water fan! But since then, and after many people telling me that I should be drinking MORE water, I caved in and try to drink water as much as possible. I also got a BIOTENE product that helps with dry mouth too. You may want to check that out. I got it at Walmart. Hope you are feeling better today!

Well one week in I feel ever so much better! I have a particularly mean bracket that is rubbing so I am befriending the wax!

I have pokey wires on the top both sides. I have to take my daughter in on Wednesday for her 2nd adjustment so I will ask the assistant to clip them.

I have practically forgotten about them except for the whole brush floss, brush floss, brush and floss again! The only time they drive me crazy is when I smile, that is when my lip gets caught on the little hooks on the top of my brackets! I don't know what to do other than not smile anymore.

Other than that I really like the braces and am happy with the choice of metal for both the tops and bottoms.

I totally know what you mean about the dry mouth. When I wake up in the morning my tounge feels like someone rubbed it down with an old sock. It's vile!

Hang in there, though. I find that brushing my tounge with my toothbrush helps. Gets some of the "gross" off there.

Hey Bekah!

Thanks for checking in on me. Glad you're feeling better after week one. I've been drinking tons of water too. My lips seem pasted to my braces sometimes.

I absolutely love my orthodontist! They fixed the pokey wires. It was really wierd because she literally grabbed the wire with her little pliers and shifted it about 1/4 inch to my left! The wire had a bend on the end to keep it from turning she said and guess what, IT TURNED!

So I was not being a big baby like I thought and she quickly fixed the wire and had to put a new lig on one of my teeth. I am happy now but have a bracket on the bottom that has a tube on it? Well there is a flat piece at the bottom that I am assuming are the cleats you are all talking about on the outside of my tooth that is pretty rough on my cheek. I am waxing the holy heck out of it so it isn't too bad.

So yes I am all better now!

BRACEDAGAIN I hope that you had fun at your race! My husband absolutely loves NASCAR. Take the day and do something fun or just lay around the house (Which is fun to me!) It looks like the race was a good time!

ShineUpMyBoots I have actually found that I love my tongue scraper to get rid of that "icky" taste!

Happy 2 week anniversary!! :-)o I bet it felt like it flew by but dragged at the same time, huh?

And YAY for no wax! I found waxing such a time consuming pain in the @ss I only used it on my lowers for one day. THAT toughened up my inner lip pretty fast! lol

I noticed in ShineUpMyBoots journal, you posted your b'day month....we have the same month! Wonder if it's the same day? Mmmm... :?:

Chat soon!! :-1
Keep smilin'! :)

You have a tounge scraper? :o Jealous!!

Where can I get my hands on one? My tounge is driving me bananas. It's either too dry or too gross.

Happy Two Weeks!! :jump: Just think, only two more and a whole month will be shaved off your sentence! That's exciting!

My two weeks is tomorrow, so we're really close in celebrating our B-Days!

Hope your mouth was good to you today! You deserve it! :D
