Hello all!

I'm a week in now and things are going well. My teeth aren't sore anymore but I still have a lot of sores where the brackets and hooks are rubbing. Today I went out for lunch and was able to eat salad and half a sandwich without too much trouble. It's nice to be able to eat normal foods again!

Thanks for reading!

Wow! One week and you're already eating salads and sandwiches!! That is great news!! Did you take any Tylenol or anything the first week? Sounds like everything is going really well!

I have been taking advil on and off depending on how I feel. It has been getting less and less as time goes on. Today I only got sore in the evening and required one.

Hi Amy - congrats on getting braced! Are you please so far with your choice of clear on top and metal on the bottom? I was sure that I wanted the same but as my brace date is drawing nearer, I'm having second thoughts because of the staining.

It has been two weeks since I got my braces and all is going well. I am eating pretty much normally and am not needing wax (for now...).

LaLaDee: To answer your question, I am very happy with my choice to get ceramic uppers. They haven't really stained yet. I have been careful to brush my teeth after eating or drinking things that could stain. I like the ceramic braces because they are discreet; many people haven't noticed them until they are up close to me.

Thanks for all your support!

So I have had my braces for almost a month now and things are going alright. I still have a little discomfort from the hooks rubbing but it is tolerable. I had to go in to the orthodontist last week to have a wire trimmed. I was very happy because that means that there has been some movement!

Aside from my braces saga...I have some personal news! On Monday June 30 my boyfriend asked me to marry him and I said yes!!! We plan to get married in the fall of 2010 (after my braces are off)!

I am very excited!!!!

Thats all for now!

Me too! So getting the pink ligs on my bottoms!! I have ceramic uppers too. I think the ortho staff only ask the metal patients to choose the lig colors. Coz my bf has metal braces and he gets asked to choose all the time.

Update

#26 Post by Broham »

I have had braces for about 7 months now. Things are moving well. At my last adjustment, the orthodontist put in a thick square wire that has, what I thought was impossible, more hooks. I also have powerchains over each of my extraction sites... I didn't realize that little elastics could cause so much pain!!!

Here are some pics!!!

Looks like you're making some great progress! Those holes are def closing up and the front teeth are straight!!

You got the teeth pulled before the braces went on, right? So it's been about 7 months since the extractions? I only ask bc I had 4 pulled as well and am watching my teeth move back, some faster than others. It's only been about 3 months since I got my teeth extracted but I want the holes closed now!! Ha! It's nice to know how much longer I have to go.

Great progress and thanks for sharing!! So glad this site is back up, I felt like I had lost my support system temporarily

Not sure if you are considering laser-whitening after your orthodontic duration, but you should try buying some coffee-stain or anything similar.

I noticed that after getting braces, my brushing habits got better, and I can see a notable increase in whiteness.

Seems the ligs still stain tho :S :P

Another Adjustment

#29 Post by Broham »

Hey all!

I went to the orthodontist this past Tuesday for an adjustment and I'm now in elastics. I have read on here that they are painfull but it's hard to understand until you experience it. I am past the tooth pain now and am just having pain in my jaw muscles and neck. Hopefully I get used to them soon.

I am nearing the one year mark and can't believe how fast the year has gone. I'm just hoping that the next year goes as fast!

Here are some pictures of my progress.
