Mike: I have discovered that chewing = feel better and I've been eating what I now refer to as "real food" like crazy! Love it!

KLC: Yup, Alaska born and raised :D

Peggy: I'll be talking a pic tomorrow so stay tuned

Skye: It's going great! All the sores are gone and I only have to use wax on the front brackets. Eating has gotten much easier and I'm not really have a problem with them in public like I thought I would. I sure hope it flies by! Only 6 more days hon!

Sweet: Thanks for the well wishes! Everything is going great :D

Brit: Isn't it amazing how quickly you forget about them? I thought it was going to be such a big deal but it's really not!

So are you ready for the good news? 8) My dentist called this morning and I was able to move my extractions up to 9:30am on July 10th and then I scheduled my ortho appointment for 3:00pm the same day. They said I will have a full archwire put on so I'm sure I'll be sore all over again but it's all in the name of progress! I do have plans Friday through Sunday that weekend and the 10th is Thursday - do you guys think I'll be out of commission for the weekend?

Hello, How have you kept your teeth so white?
You have lovely teeth and they will be perfect once all the work has been done.
I had extractions and brace fitted on the same day- I actually think this is a good idea as the injections numb your mouth so you cant actually feel the work being done to get the brace fitted...LOL
However I would suggest you have a good hearty meal before your extractions- treat yourself to something fancy -as in my experience you may not eat a normal meal for a few weeks.....
If your having your extractions 930 i would expect the anesthetic to wear off by about 6ish..... but you may not wanna eat then- I just had icecream......LOL however I had linguals so I had to get uesed to my brace inside the teeth....
You should be fine to go out- you seem to have prepared youself mentally for this and you know what to expect so I would just take the pain killers and get out and about...... & show off your new toy!

Your jouney has begun.....keep me updated.....

That's so great, you are sooo on your way!

I made my appt yesterday to actually get the braces... well, brackets and spacers one Fri and then wires the following Friday. Anyone else have it done this way? Extractions will be sometime early Aug I think. First comes a vacation, then my 32nd bday, then the brackets- lol!

I feel like, now that I have made the appt, I need to get a fun "3 weeks until braces" countdown. But how??? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!!

Hi Brace Buddy

#88 Post by Perth Lad »

Hi Nikki,

I took some photo's of my teeth too one week in and can't really see any change...bummer....I'm really impatient!! I'm sure things are moving though as different teeth seem to take turns in feeling a bit sensitive and I'm sure I've got some moving/creaking sensations going on in my mouth. I think it's just part of the early process of having braces.....we want to see some change!! I know I need to be patient and should take some more photos in a few weeks and should see some movement then - I'm sure you'll be the same!

Best wishes,

Perth Lad

Hi guys! I was out of town this weekend so that's why it's been so quiet around here  Let me give you all a little advice: NEVER go out of town without your wax! Can you believe I forgot it? I know, shame on me.

Anyhow, thanks for the comments everyone! I studied those pictures again and I'm still not sure if I see movement but that is A-okay with me because I sure feel movement! As Perth Lad said, my teeth ache and feel lose in turns so I know there is something going on  I will take more pictures tomorrow, two weeks in, and then you guys can be sure to see pics next week after my extractions and full arch wires!

To answer Peggy's question, life in braces has been GREAT! I only use wax on those upper cuspids now and after the weekend I can tough it out without wax for a while. I hardly notice them at all and am not self conscious about talking and smiling. I can eat just about anything without pain, just in much smaller bites than a normal person  The only discomfort I have is from the way I bite down now - I get some of my bottom lip between my teeth and push on those loose teeth and it just feels... weird. But all in all I love my braces!
