Below are photos I took after getting braced this morning...
As you can see in the last picture there are no brackets on the last molars, top and bottom; is this normal? will my end result be affected?
Altogether, I'm pretty happy with the braces; or at least to be getting this process started. Eating sucks and I look like I'm 12, but other than that the first 2 hours haven't been bad. Things should get interesting when my teeth start moving and I go back to school...

I had my first bracket come off during dinner tonight. It is the very last molar on my side right side. I guess I won't be eating anymore sourdough bread...
Your teeth and bite look very similar to mine (although your teeth are straighter). I too have a 'gappier' left side (right on the photo's) than my right side. I'm hoping it won't take too long to fix with braces. I am currently in my 4th and a 1/2 month. Feel free to click my 'www' link at the bottom of my post to see my progress. I also had a deep bite before braces, but that seems to have improved markedly since braced, and I am very impressed.
Good luck with your journey!

Metal upper and lowers
Alright, it has been one week since I had braces put on. It has definitely been challenging to get used to having foreign objects attached to my teeth. It has been a greater struggle to overcome my insecurities and fear of others opinions than it has been to get used to the feeling of the braces in my mouth. I have adjusted well to eating, brushing and flossing; but not to what the braces do to my self confidence. I am progressing in this front as I interact with more and more people. I play college basketball and today was the first day of practice/conditioning; my teammates didn't even seem to notice or care about my braces, making me feel a little bit more confident as to how people will react to my metal mouth. The only comment that I have gotten so far about my braces was, "hahaha you look like a little kid." It's easy to roll with comments like that, I don't really mind looking 15 instead of 19; so I hope things keep going well as far as human interaction. As for the braces themselves: I have been slightly disappointed by the aesthetics of the Clarity SL braces, they are much more visible due to the "smart clips" that make them self ligating, than the regular clarity or inspire ice brackets that use ligatures. Also, the orthodontist did not replace the bracket that fell of on the first day; not a huge concern but I would rather have all the brackets there. All in all things are going pretty well. I think that once I get over the self confidence issue with the braces everything will start going very smoothly.
Here are some pictures to chart my progress after the first week...
my bite ^
only slight movement, but I'm pretty happy with the movement so far, I can already feel my bite improving.
Thanks for you post on my story - yeah I'm pretty pleased with the progress so far and am hoping everything keeps going well.
I understand your thoughts on wearing braces at college, its not easy - let me just say this though....I didn't have the guts to do the same at your age and regretted it later....good on you for making the decision to get braced now rather than later....you'll be happier sooner that way.
I think that your teeth look good now, so by the end of your correction you'll have a killer smile.
Hi! I enjoyed reading your braces story. I'm scheduled to get self-ligating ceramics in a couple of weeks and was sad to see you think they're more visible. I wonder if that'll be the case with mine, too.
