Thanks Melissa.. I totally forgot! I'll crop and repost.

The main problem is my husband was trying to shoot on my professional camera and the macro lens I have for that that is SO fine that it ends up blurring out all but one tooth, lol. So we switched to my point=and-shoot - which DOES have a macro setting! So I will try that tonight!

I haven't put wax on at all yet, lol. I'm trying to be tough!

Congrats! You did it! :D

I love your braces. They look really nice! I remember the scratchy feeling when I got my lower braces on. I used wax for the first day then just decided to suck it up and let my lips get tough. Surprisingly, by the second day, they were much better and by the third day I had no discomfort at all. Hang in there, it gets easier!

As for taking close up pics, if your camera has a macro setting, use that. It has a little flower for an icon. Hope that helps! :)

Thanks hon! I will take new pics of my arches tonight when I get home. The first night wasn't bad - and I survived sleeping! LOL
shan*rock wrote:They look great! Glad it went smoothly. I have a hard time taking good arch pictures too, and my husband was even worse at taking them than I was. I'm gonna try the macro setting that another posted just mentioned. Good luck with your first week in braces!

Hi Lauren,

you look fabulous. Indeed, the braces really suit you. Congrats !

Now, I know what you mean about only 1 tooth coming out sharp in the pic.
You probably know all about DOF (depth of field). I saw your wonderful portfolio,
and thought immediately, Lauren knows all about DOF. Well, you need to try to
have a large DOF. Shallow DOF is very artistic, but not really wanted here. Do
some experiments, get enough light and I am sure it will work out. Besides, you
have ... some time to get it right. That is another advantage of having braces.
They stay on for some time ...

Hi Lauren

I wanted to tell you that I have been thinking about getting braces for a long time and how much better I feel after reading your story. It is shocking how similar my story is as well. My name is Lauren and I am also 26 years old. I am going to have ceramic braces on November.3rd and will have a flipper in place of my missing tooth so that I can have an implant. I am a bit nervous about the application of the braces, but look forward to smiling again. Thank-you for sharing your story to everyone, and I am glad to have come across this site it has really lifted my confidence about the braces. Congrats to you!
