Miss Chastity wrote:My ortho said it would take 2 years. So if things still go as planned I should be getting them off in January 2010. Although, I'm praying for the date to be before then.

What about you?
Since your teeth are looking so awesome, I wouldn't be suprised if you get them off way sooner than that. Remember it's just an estimate =)
My original ortho quoted me 3 years... wow. Now it looks like my treatment time will be about 1 and a half years :D
flesh-was-sweet wrote:Wow, Melissa - well done you on standing up to your old ortho!!
I had an ortho who I didn't like very much at the start of my treatment and luckily for me she left the practice, and in her place was a really nice guy, but otherwise I probably would've had to change orthos as well.
I can't wait to see your new braces!!
Hi flesh-was-sweet! Thanks for your comment!! :D
Wow, thats soo wonderful that ortho you didn't like left and you got a nice one in his place! I wished that would of happened to me lol..
Yes yes I am sooo excited to see my new braces too!! October 16th can not come soon enough!! I can't wait to get these ugly braces off and get my purdy ones hehe. I have to wait a little while longer for my uppers, but that's ok, I don't mind having only a retainer on top for 6 weeks...it'll be a little braces vacation sort of

Heya Ken,
Oh yes, it was a total PITA putting up with that office...they all walked around like emotionless robots... never smiled or anything! You could tell they didnt enjoy their jobs at all  They'd leave me in the chair for 15-20 mins while they all chatted in the hallway! I am soo glad I dont have to put up with that anymore.

Thanks for putting the pic up! IBraces look so fancy and cool! How discreet will you be! Sounds fantastic. I'm so happy for you now that you seem to have found a great ortho office and treatment. And how excellent that you don't have to get your wisdom teeth pulled, AND don't need implants! So although the IBraces cost a lot more than your previous treatment, it's sort of a blessing in disguise you found this ortho because they are saving you thousands of dollars in the end by avoiding implants and wisdom teeth removal!

My treatment is going well. I had an adjustment 2 days ago, so I'm just about to update my story. I got powerchains for the first time which is very excited, although they are disguised because they put ligs over the top.

Looking forward to hearing how everything goes!

Good for you for taking charge of your care. I know that's a huge load off your mind. And saving money on implants? That's just icing on the cake. I was thrilled to death when my ortho said he could close the spot my dentist had planned for a bridge or implant. I did feel a little bad about my dentist losing that money tho, since she's been so sweet to me.

The best part for us at Archwired is that now you'll be a very rare bird indeed: one who has had both ceramics and lingual braces. Better prepare your canned response now. :D

I can't wait to see pics of your new configuration!

Well done Melissa for standing up to your old ortho, we're all paying so much money for our braces we definitely deserve to be treated well!

Good to see you'll be joining the linguals club- although I-Braces look a lot less bulky than my linguals so you shouldn't have a huge lisp like I did.

Good luck with it

It's been a few days, sorry for this late comment. I am so glad you decided to do something about your ortho, these are your teeth, this is your appearance and you shouldn't have to be afraid during your treatment. I am appalled that they made such a big deal about cutting your wire. I'm glad to hear you switched and that you got some money back.
I switched dr.'s too but I wish I had done it much, much sooner. It's good that you haven't invested TOO much time before switching to a better ortho.

*melissa* wrote:I had a consult with a new orthodontist today :D Communication is really important, and my other ortho hardly EVER talked to me. I always thought that was really strange. Meeting this new ortho was like a breath of fresh air. I really liked her plan for my treatment. So I decided to go ahead and get started at this office.

I'm so happy for you! I would be livid if I was treated by assistants (unfriendly ones at that!) as often as you were! The only assistants that have touched me so far were the ones that set the gluey brackets on my teeth.
This is her plan:
Since I have 2 impacted teeth on the bottom, my original ortho wanted to leave them there and just add 2 implants instead of extracting them. So for a few months, I've had 2 coil springs to open up space for 2 implants. My new ortho said "I am gonna save you thousands of dollars! I'm not gonna have you do implants." I was so happy to hear that! So she will close up the space that my previous ortho started to create. Also, she said she wants me to leave my wisdom teeth there afterall. She gonna use them to fix my bite. =)
wow your new ortho sounds totally awesome. congratulations on making the move! why in god's name would your old ortho be making room for fake teeth instead of your real teeth? I took one look at your picture with your empty spaces and your wisdom tooth poking out and I was like hmm... why is this person's ortho so retarded?! I guess they really wanted your money. being so mean is a bad way to get it, huh?!
I am sooooooooo excited to get started. There are not enough words to express how happy I am. :-*
And I am so happy FOR you!! your teeth are GORGEOUS and it looks like you're SO CLOSE to like... the most beautiful smile EVER. :D Yay!

look, no braces!

i've come a looong ways in 7 months!

this was my "before"..taken during month 1: Image

i was at the new office for over 2 hours, but it was so worth it. i got my old braces taken off. that took a LONG time!! omg, it hurt sooo badly when the lady took my bottom braces off. it felt as if she was gonna pull my teeth out! and the whole process smelled gross! the glue was a pain in the butt to take off. she was scraping and polishing it off for about an hour.

finally when she was done, i had lots of impressions taken for retainers and then some for the top iBraces and bottom ceramics. i thought i was going to get the bottom ceramics on today...but i guess they want me to wait until the ibraces are ready. so they'll call me in 4-6 weeks to come back and get re-braced...until then, im brace freeeeeeeeee....
i know i still need alot of work done...my bite mostly! and yeah, my midline of course. but im still thrilled to be able to take a break from braces for 4-6 weeks :D

i pick up my retainers ltoday after work. hopefully ill get used to them quickly.

Your smile is gorgeous. If I were you I would have to think twice about getting re-braced. But at least you are getting those cool iBraces!
