Congratulations!

Did you recently get a new rectangular archwire on the top? The same thing happened to me when the ortho gave me a rectangular wire and then again when it was changed to a larger one. My incisors were originally "sloped", so the new wire made them straight causing a gap. Don't worry - my gap closed in about a week and I'm certain yours will too.

Just from the pictures it looks like the gap is just from the incisors being straightened where before they were together just because they were tilted towards center. I would think once everything is getting close to where it needs to be it should be a simple matter of closing up the gap with a chain?

Well the gap started about 3 weeks ago. It seems to be getting bigger as time gos by. I asked my ortho was this normal and the reply I got was.... when you come back in Dec we will work on closing the gap. :( I'm scared to eat now. I feel like I might break my front teeth. I know kinda silly, but it freaks me out.

Let me just tell you that your gap will close in no time, just remember that and try to not let it ruin things for you. It will be fun to watch and will probably start closing immediately.

Congrats on getting braced at 26 - I was braced then too. It's amazing when I look back now that I'm 28 how time flies! You'll be done before you know it.
