Thanks for the encouragement Annie Lou, RachelB and kayleighkelly!
Another adjustment today . The ortho moved a couple of brackets (upper 7's ) and added a new one. Same wire on the bottom with just single ligs this time. The upper wire is now smaller thanks to the new molar bracket.
I still get to wear the elastics at night. I picked the smoke PC again for the top and the bottom ligs are a pearl pink. Very pretty so far, we shall see how they hold up.
Things look pretty much the same as last time except the gap I had is closed now and the rotated bottom canine is in a better position.
I've been moved up to adjustments every 4 weeks and he says 4 more months and I'm done!
Just back from another adjustment. The last four weeks just flew by!
No major changes this time. He put in a larger stainless wire on top that was spread out to further widen my upper arch. I still have the extra little hooks on my lateral incisors for nighttime elastic wear to keep my bite closed. I got a fresh powerchain on top (silver this time) and single pearl pink ligs on bottom. The pink held up very well over the 4 weeks I wore them and I think I like it best so I'll probably get the same color for the rest of treatment.
I've had the same wire on the bottom since February now so not a lot of change going on down there. The bottom arch looks perfect to me as it is right now. Everything is nice and straight, its just a matter of getting my bite perfected now
My twin daughters both had their one year retainer checks today too. Everything is still looking good and they go back in six months.
Hey! it looks like that we are in about the same places in our treatment! just needing to fix the bite and thats it!... so i see that you have about 4 months left ... that kinda helps me gauge where im at!.. my smile dosent look have as straight as yours tho.. i love your teeth! perfect size shape and color! im jelious!
Today's adjustment went pretty quickly. I got a new (and probably final) wire on the bottom arch. The upper wire is the same as last month but he added a few bends on the right side way in the back. Power chain on top and still get to wear the elastics at night.
I also got my debonding date: September 15th!
I'll post more photos when the braces come off since they still look just the same as the last pic. All the changes are taking place out of sight atm so no point in posting photos that look alike.
I got a new wire on the bottom with one added bend, and a powerchain.
Tops were not changed at all, just a fresh powerchain. And stronger elastics to be worn 24/7 for the last month. The configuration is the same as it has been for months though.
I can't chew gum with my teeth clamped shut so I guess I'll just have to deal with the soreness this time
Looks like the Doc is going on vacation so my debond date has been bumped to September 21. I will be getting Essix retainers later that same day.
I've had a tooth that has been hurting since my adjustment two weeks ago so went in today and had it looked at. My ortho cut my elastic wearing back to just nights again and said it should "calm down" shortly. I've had random aches and pains off and on over my treatment but this was not going away so I figured it should be looked at. A bottom tooth is hitting the upper canine and causing the pain. It wouldn't be so bad if not for the exteme cold sensitivity that came along with it.
Three more weeks to go! Here are a few quick before and almost after pics.
Everything went well. The usual bracket removal, sanding of glue (she used rolled cotton to keep some of the cold air at bay), polishing and then molds for my retainers. I asked not to have my teeth smoothed/shaped at all, just did not like the idea of it at all. I don't mind a little imperfection. I've still got a few black triangles, but that's ok too.
I've got my Essix retainers already and they are so far a major pain to remove, but I hear it gets easier
I was given a copy of my records photos so I'm adding some of them as my before shots this time. ( a little dark and grainy but give a pretty good idea of what I started with)
Just got back from my second retainer check. I was told that I can start wearing them every other night if I like. I'm not sure if I will though.
The little black triangles I had at de-bracing have pretty much gone away. There is just the slightest one between the upper central incisors now and the worst one on the bottom is still there but much smaller. The rest are gone. I didn't really expect them to change at all so that was a pleasant surprise.
I go in for my second post praces cleaning next month. This will be the first time in well...ever... that I have had two cleanings in the same year . I figured I'd try to be a better example to the kids and go like I'm supposed to.
I've been able to keep up the flossing habit and my gums are much happier for it.
I think my teeth look even better then they did 8 months ago on de-bracing day
