Well they're off!!! Anyway, my morning didn't start off so great... I was taking my kids to school and all of a sudden everyone stops suddenly because there is a turtle in the road and of course, I rear ended someone. We were fine, but this is what I truly didn't need. Well, I was more concerned about being late for my debanding, and having to reschedule, but I ended up only being 20 minutes late.

Well I got there, and tried to relax, the assistant first popped off all the metal brackets except for the lower front six, then the upper ceramics, which pretty much crumbled on removal. Then I went off to brush my teeth to remove some of the crumbs and stuff, then the ortho started to remove the cement and started working on my lower bonded retainer. The assistant prepped the lowers and the ortho came back to attach my retainer and once that was done, the assistant popped off the rest of my brackets and he finished up. Had pics and x-rays done.

Will have my pics up later!

Awesome B!! Glad to hear you got to the office in time for them to still take the braces off - that would have been frustrating if they didn't have time. I think your teeth look really nice! Enjoy! (I know I am, haha ;))

Thank you for all of your complements. I'm really pleased!!!

As far as the car goes, it's just a pain in the butt and $2100 expense that I didn't need. My portion is the deductable ($500), but still it's such an inconveinence!

browneyedgrl...your story is exactly like mine. I have tmj, with a messed up bite, but my teeth are essentially straight. I know you just got your braces off, but I am so encouraged by your story, I had to write. I am getting re-braced on Oct. 9th and I am excited. I'm hoping that this will help my tmj as I am just sick of having it. I also have twins and an older daughter...

I hope your tmj is better...and that you are enjoying your new smile. I see that your teeth are more vertical, and that is what I think will happen to mine. I am getting damon 3's on top and 3m's on bottom....the wait is killing me!

thanks for sharing your story! :D

Hi Trish,

Thanks for visiting!!! As a matter of fact, my son turns 12 today and my girls are 4.5 years younger, they'll be 8 at the end of March.

My TMJ is better, but acts up here and there. I have to tell you that my function is so much better! I did have some relaspe, but I also had a car accident in 1992 which was probably the beginnings of my TMJ which really didn't start acting up until many years later! I was pleased with my final results!

Good luck with your journey, I'll have to go and read your story. Keep me posted. As a member here on the board told me on my birthday, just walk in and don't look back!

Hi Trish,

My ortho wouldn't guarantee that the TMJ would be gone, but I would have much better function in the end. I also spoke with my dentist about it and he thought that I had nothing to loose by going ahead with treatment. I'd have better esthetics and improved function.

Just go for it, I was a wreck about it and only told a few of my friends that I was going to do it. I didn't even tell my kids beforehand and they didn't even notice until a day and a half later.

They're a couple of twinmoms here. Katie(Metalmouthmommy) and Fashionvictim (she's going through treatment with her twin daughters) that I know of offhand.
