I sometimes can't believe myself!! Imaging closing a gap of almost 5mm between the front teeth!! WOW!!!

All of you starting the journey, believe me, it is definitely worth it!

If it cld be done with my teeth....then anybody can get good results!

Your teeth are looking amazing! Thanks for sharing your progress in a year's time, it is nice to have such motivation from others who are further along in their treatment than I am. I'm only 10 weeks in and already pleased with the changes I'm starting to see - I can barely even imagine what my smile will look like a year into this!

One year and counting-2

#5 Post by bracesweden »

It has been one year (on aug 19th) and I have around 8 months-1 year left. The front teeth have really come together, but I still have lots of gaps near the "roots" - mainly because my teeth had descended due to periodontitis...hence the long treatment. That is also the reason why my ortho is going really slow with the moving and would like to take time for the roots to adjust to even the small pressure that is being applied.

I got power chains - the top ones in the beginning to June and had the reduction in gap between the 2 front teeth was almost instantaneous!! Got power chains on the lowers during july end adjustment. I guess it takes some time for the move to be permanent...

Yes, it really feeels wonderful to see the changes!!!!

Have patience you all....as you can see, it is really worth it!!!

I am hoping that power chains are not that painful, then again based on the results they achieve they are worth it. Good luck with the rest of your treatment

Your results are terrefic! You must be so satisfied! It's kinda funny to see, because when you had the gaps your teeth appeared so much smaller than they do once the gaps are closed.

It's so encouraging for us behind you in treatment when you're posting progress pics, at least when the progress is so amazing. A real encouragement on the way :-)o

Bigger teeth

#8 Post by bracesweden »

Actually now that you mention it, yes, my teeth do look bigger!!!

I noticed it only after you mentiond it...thoguh I did think a few times that something was different - of course apart from the obvious :?

I think I will ask my ortho the next time.

Well, to answer asabea, the powerchains are not directly painful - dont forget, they usually are introduced after some months into your ortho treatment, so you are kind of used to the pressure the first couple of days after an adjustment. But the big change that a powerchain does is that it brings together teeth that need to be brought together and does not correct an overbite (if I am mistaken, do correct me). And for me, the biggest pain/problem as yet has been when the wires start to "grow" or lets say when they start poking into the jaw when teeth move inwards (to correct an overbite). Then I have to go to get it clipped...or else even opening the mouth to eat something becoes a pain!!

But coming to powerchains, YES YES, they really are worth it!!! Inspite of assurances from my ortho in the beginning that my gaps will disappear, I was very sceptical...and thought - I dont think what you are dealing with here (I now humbly stand corrected :D !!) And if my 3-4 mm gaps can disappear...then anything is possible.

I will post more pics after my next adjustment - Sept end.

Keep in touch and "keep the faith" as someone said!!

:P :P :P
