Two wires

#46 Post by bracesweden »

invertigofreak wrote:Actually - on the bottom I have TWO wires, they over lap at the front. He told me this, but I thought I misunderstood him. lol..

Not sure why I have two.
I am only in the page 2 of your amazing story, so dont know if your question got answered...but here is my 2 pence answer -

I too have 2 wires - both upper and lower. My ortho said that one of the wires (the top one) is to bring the teeth in the gums firmly (I have/had loose gums) and the second one is of course to do the ortho stuff. on around 6-8 teeth I actually have 4 wires (!!!!!) 'coz my braces firstly are sectioned (3-4 per section), then I have one to bring them back in the gums and one final one archwire...and where they overlap, I have 4!!!
And you can easily how easy it is to brush!!

But it has helped LOTS!!!!

Cleaning teeth....OMG

#48 Post by bracesweden »

Well, for one you are right, cleaning my teeth is a kind of accepted chore now.. But I do it as it HAS to be done...what with my periodontal problems PLUS the ortho treatment now. But results till now have been AMAZING!!! Check out some of my pics - the ones that I have uploaded recently tell the whole story.

But the going in the beginning was no cake walk let me tell you, especially as my journey began much before even I got braces! Had almost a year and half of gum surgeries and recoveries etc etc...so I now on the second stretch. The third will be once the braces come off...final periodontal treatment and then I will be done!!

Your teeth look absolutely wonderful in the short 8 or so months you have been in braces...BRAVO!!

Hang in there, it just gets better!!

Then the only thing you have to practice is trying to close your mouth sometimes when you smile   ...not easy when the beautiful smile is so hard won!

Keep it up!

Oh sounds like you have a long history there!!!! I am pretty lucky I haven't had many problems with my teeth. Had a plate when i was younger to move one of my front top teeth forward, and then braces now, and that's about it.

Wow! The two teeth that I wasn't happy with have moved almost in line with the rest of them since my last adjustment!!! (which was like 5 days ago!) I was just licking them (as you do. haha) and I thought - oh hang on, that one seems almost in line with the one next to it, then checked the other ones and YAY...

My two fang teeth have moved back in a bit (they were sticking out quite a bit) and actually looks like they have moved up a bit too so they don't look abnormally long now! YAY

6th(?) adjustment

#52 Post by invertigofreak »

Hi everyone!!!! Just back from my 6th adjustment... What an eventful adjustment :D

Firstly, I now have my final wire for my bottom - so thats both top and bottom final wires.

He also filed down between my bottom front teeth to make room (Not really sure what for, because to me the bottom ones look pretty good. But I wouldn't mind him filing my top ones down? lol. But I will take his word for it.

And I also have bands now - They say "2D (3/16") 3-1/2 Oz on the packet. I only have to wear them at night at the moment, and I go back in 4 weeks this time (instead of my normal 8-ish) to see how its going.

But woohoo. It all seems to be coming along nicely :D
Pics will follow shortly.

7th adjustment (I think)

#56 Post by invertigofreak »

Hi guys. I had my 7th adjustment yesterday (I think it was the 7th at least)...

He has told me to stop wearing the rubber bands now because he is happy with what they have done. He has attached some little hooks to my top wires and said that next time they will zig-zag bands across to fix up my back teeth. My next adjustment is 22nd December, so I get a early christmas present it seems.

He also said that I would be looking at having my braces removed early next year. WOOHOOO!!! I was thinking mid next year. But early is awesome!!!

Big news today!

I had another adjustment, and I now have "ostrich" bands zig-zagged between my top and bottom teeth. Just splendid because I can hardly open my mouth. It will be awesome when i go back to my job tomorrow in retail - 2 days before christmas!

But in good news - I have a de-bracing day!!!! 18th February 2010. AHEAD OF SCHEDULE!!!

Woohoo. and now for pics...
