Taking care of myself

#1 Post by bracedcml »

I am a 28 year woman with ceramic braces on top and metal on the bottom.I am managing and cannot wait until 09/14/11! I have always hated my smile and it has really affected my self esteem.

Having straight teeth will bring me a lot of confidence! After literally losing sleep over my "imperfect smile" and a snaggle tooth, I finally took the brave step of getting braces. It was a hard decision since my mom, fiance, and friends liked my smile as is. Some people were very fond of my lucky tooth, but it always made me uncomfortable, so I finally listened to my heart and am taking care of myself!

Not too much movement-trying to be patient. The biggest annoyance is the bite ramps on the back of my two front teeth. I can't stop grinding. I went to my 2nd adjustment on Monday and the ortho decided not to change anything. My next adjustment is 1/4/10.

I think your teeth look great and they are only going to look better as time goes on.

Thanks Snowglobe32! I am happy I joined this community. Having braces as an adult can be rather isolating when I look around at my friends, family, and coworkers without metal mouths!

I will post better pictures when there have been more changes-patience, patience, and more patience. I am so used to instant gratification! Straight teeth will be worth the wait.

Hi bracedcml :D Welcome & congrats on your decision to get braces as an adult. snowglobe's right - your teeth are really nice - they'll look fantastic when you're done, I'm sure. You'll find lots of support here...
As a 50+ adult getting ready for braces a second time, it's great to chat with other adults about all aspects of the experience. Keep posting...

It's been 5 months and my smile has changed a lot!

As the months go on, I know getting braces is worth it. :D

The ortho removed my bite ramps behind my two front teeth at my last adjustment. She said my bite changed a lot. Changes are good.
