Today was my 8th adjustment. I'm very happy my teeth have finally moved enough to get a stronger wire. I've had the same wire for almost a year and thought I would never get rid of it. The top hasn't changed in awhile but I'm not complaining about that. I don't have any wire ties now and I couldn't be happier about that. My front 4 bottom teeth have those nifty little eight's on them again. I went with teal on the top and midnight glo blue on the bottom. My next appointment is for the 17th of November. That's the day before I got my braces put on. Hopefully this wire works like my top one did and I get powerchain on my next visit. I'll update again if I see any progress.

Well today was my 10th adjustment. My appointment was at 2 but I got there a little early because I had other plans. They didn't take me until 2:10 and I was ok with that. I didn't see my usual ortho today. I had noticed my front teeth felt uneven and decided to mention that since I was there. For todays appointment he did a small kink in my top wire to align the uneven teeth (they have already lined up in less than 24 hours). He made another kink in my bottom wire to bring the one stubborn tooth forward. It hurt so much for about an hour I didn't understand till I looked in the mirror and saw it had moved a good 3/4's of an inch into place. He didn't put any of those nifty little eight's on and no wire ties either. Just the two kinks. Now he did file my teeth down a little to even out some of the chips. This I admitt was both good and bad. Good because they look so much better but bad as the one tooth was very sensitive and it hurt everytime he touched it. Amazing what a little filing can do for one's smile. When I began my treatment in November I was told that I would have braces anywhere between 12-18 months. When I asked if they would be ready to come off in May he said maybe but if not most likely in July or August. Possibly as last as September??? That really disappointed me as I had hoped to have them off in time for my becoming a senior (May). Anyway I went with Mediterranean blue on the top and alternating shocking pink and baby pink on the bottom. I'm hoping next time I will be ready for powerchain.

Had my 11th adjustment today. Things are not going as planned at this point. The bottom teeth did finally straighten out and that stubborn tooth did finally move into place but now the roots are tilted back to far. I was hoping for a power chain this time but it didn't happen. He did another new wire this ones rectangular (16 x 22?). So now my mouths really going to hurt tomorrow for my evening shift at the hospital. He did something to my top wire too but it doesn't fell different and having the power chain reapplied didn't make it feel differently either. So I have no idea what he did there. No little eight's or wire ties either just plain ligs. I went with black on top and alternating plum crazy and lavender. I really like the plum crazy and I'm even thinking I may go with it on top next time. The baby pink ligs I had one last time didn't stain which makes me wonder what I ate that turned them before. Either way I didn't really like them this time either. I'm not a soft color person apparently. On the positive side I got one of the best compliments of my life a few weeks ago. When I came back from Christmas break one of the guys in the specials sweet who had seen me numerous times before that asked if I had just gotten braces. He hadn't noticed them at all before. I was a bit surprised since they had been all bright colors except for the silver. Right now it is looking like it's going to be longer than May since all these new issues seem to keep popping up but oh well. Better to be set back a few months than to not be satisfied with the results.

What a great day for my 12th adjustment. Friday the 13th. Needless to say I wasn't looking forward to this one. Today was again a little disappointing only because it feels like treatment has come to a halt. He did another kink in my bottom wire that is hurting like crazy. He put two little eights on the bottom front teeth no pain from them anymore. Nothing on top changed but he took the wire out. In general not much changed. I did all plum crazy. I go back the 1st of June and maybe then I'll have some good news.

I was suppose to go back for my next adjustment on the 1st but now I cannot go back until the 21 or so. I hate summer classes. My last three adjustments have been so mild I was beginning to wonder if anything was happening. I know whats happening now. When my bottom teeth straightened out it left a gap between the top teeth and the bottom. I wasn't really sure how they planned to fix it since it wasn't there originally. Apparently those tiny kinks the ones that not only didn't hurt but the ones that I couldn't figure out what they did. There somehow closing that gap. I don't know how but I know that they are. So I'm happier again. And I am offically a senior now.

Today was my 13th adjustment and this one is slightly less mild. When I consulted my regular dentist for my yearly cleaning he told me my bite had looked really good and I was pretty happy about that. As I said last time I had to postpone my last adjustment because of school as fate has it I will be able to take my personal day off for this next appointment so it won't be to bad. The wires are still the same which is fine with me. I think I might actually be a few months away from the final result as right now he said he was just getting everything symmetrical and evened up. He did point out at least 5 teeth he wasn't happy about yet but the roots have retracted back so its right on schedule again. I went with teal on the top and alternating black and hot pink on the bottom. My one canine hurts a good bit right now but I know that means progress and the more of it I see the happier I am that I went ahead and did this. So today was a really good day!!!!!!!!!

I had my 14th adjustment today. I had one major change this time. For the majority of my time in braces I have had some kind of power chain on my top teeth. I was actually very use to the powerchain. This adjustment he decided not to put the power chain back on. He made the usual small kinks and marked my midline. So far nothing hurts nothing even feels tight. I had already decieded my colors before I went in but having all singles again gave me the opportunity to pull off the one pattern I had not gotten to before the powerchain. So I opted to do half black half hot pink on top and half silver half blue on the bottom. I now have endless posibilities yet again. Still I'm not sure whether to take the removal of my powerchain as a good sign or as a bad sign. He seemed to be pretty unhappy with the one bottom tooth. So I don't know whats going on now.

I had my 15th adjustment today. The good news is I'm totally in the home stretch which he told me himself today. He said specifically that we are now just doing the finishing details. Which means I'll soon be brace free!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sooooooooo looking forward to that. On top of having a wonderful ortho appointment I got another wonderfully early present. Mom and Dad went ahead and gave me my college graduation present. A 2002 ford Mustang and shes utterly beautiful and drives like a dream. What a week! It just couldn't get any better!!!!!!!!

:D :-#) Today was my 16th adjustment but todays was the best so far. Today I was actually late for my appointment but thats fine it was only ten minutes. Unlike my previous adjustments where I had to bite down and relax and do this and that this one was simply bite down for me. He did ask if I had any areas I wasn't satisfied with. Which I don't. I mean everything is perfect aside from the shape of the one tooth but thats not really fixable. My midline is perfect which is a relief and everything else was fine. So I will be wearing them for another six weeks to stabilize the work thats been done. Now heres the best part. I finally got my debanding date! Yes, I was finally told that my braces were coming off. The timing couldn't be better since both my mold appointment and my debanding are during my Christmas break! I go in for my molds on the 21st of December and my debanding on th 11th of January. I'm totally looking forward to being brace free! The only challenge left for me to face is making sure that I get the retainers I want! :D :-#)

Well after tomorrow I have 14 days before the braces come off. I am soooooooooooooooo excited. I am planning some big changes for myself. My first change is going to be losing weight and the second one I would like to make is getting my teeth whitened. They look beautiful at this moment even with the braces so I know there gonna be amazing when they come off. I go in for molds tomorrow and I am not looking forward to having to battle my orthodontist for the type of reatiners I want. But I will because there is no way I will have a bonded retainer. I don't even know my colors for tomorrow yet. I will have to think about that.

Today was very exciting. After 2 years and a month the braces are finally going to come off all I have to wait for now are my retainers. This appointment was the best so far simpy because it was the easiest. When I got there they took me back and sat me down. She proceeded to remove the ligs and both wires. Then she explained the process to me. My ortho prefers bonded retainers on the bottom and I refused that not wanting that at all so I explained that to the assistant and she accepted my decision. My ortho explained the risks but I was ok with that and was not about to change my mind. She then proceeded to do the molds which weren't nearly as bad as the first time although they were a lot harder to get out. The putty stuck all over my teeth this time. She gave me a toothbrush and let me brush all that junk out which took forever. I then got to sit down and she put the wires back in and did my new ligs which are all black on top and alternating silver and gold in two's for x-mas. Like I said this was a nice simple appointment I like those. I then got to choose my retainer colors. Now anyone that knows me knows that I am not a simple girl at all. I always use colors and my retainers will be no different. I originally wanted to do black, teal, and pink for the top then maybe a purple for the bottom so I could incorporate all my fav colors. When I saw the varieties of colors though things changed. I opted to do a tri color top Aqua, Turquoise, and Purple and a solid black bottom. I am so looking forward to the 11th. I will update again then.

Today was an awesome day. I finally got my braces off. My teeth look totally perfect there so beautiful. The debanding process was amazingly simple. I arrived ten minutes early for my appointment and didn't even have to sign in. I was called back instantly and sat down in the chair. The assistant took what looked like a pair of pliers and removed the four molar tubes I had. She then set about removing the top braces. It only took about 30 seconds to do the top and the bottom. I had a short wait while my ortho was doing some paperwork. He then came out and gave me some goggles to wear while he polished off the glue. This process hurt a little bit but it was tolerable. Once he finished that he began work on my retainers. He placed it in and then checked it. He removed it and adjusted something then placed it back in and took it out again. This time he said it was to snug and that it was suppose to be firm but should be easy to remove with a wiggle. Once he got that one perfect. He moved to the bottom. He placed it and checked it and decided it was perfect. This one was more snug than the top but he said the bottom tended to be more floppy and that the snuggness was a good thing. They had me take them out again so I could have pictures taken. I was able to put them right back in as soon we finished and then I was free to go. I got my appointment for my first retainer check. Its for April 24th. I will be wereing my retainers 24/7 for the next three months. I am so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today was my first retainer check. I really like these appointments. It was so fast and painless LOL. I got to my appointment a few minutes late mostly due to the fact that I had to much time to kill and forgot to set my alarm. They took me back almost instantly though. I sat down in the chair and he asked how everything was going. I told him that they felt a little loose and he checked them. The top left side was in fact a little loose but he adjusted that. The bottom was flawless. He said they looked perfect exactly the same as when they came off. I am to continue to wear them 24/7 until October. Then only at night. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
