Thank you so much petitcanard. I am so freaking excited.
For the last 30 whatever months, i have been reading stories on here and have not posted to much unless i felt that i could really give some good advise. I have read so many stories of people finally getting their braces off and have been so jealous for much of the time cause i was thinking mine are never coming off. But now it is me....
So to anyone reading, please dont be jealous of me....I have endured the long/hard road to get here. You will be here soon and will see and understand the joy that I have now that I have a debanding date.
One question. My ortho said to wear my class 2 elastic on the left side at night only....but I am nervous about it relapsing during the day. Would it be a problem to continue to wear it 24/7?? I know I should call the ortho but wanted to ask your opinions.

Congrats!! They are so straight and it's hard to tell what about your bite is not perfect. I think you should follow orders to wear elastic only at night. It may start to relapse during day but would then be pulled back at night. You could risk overcorrection if you wear it 24/7. But if things should start moving, get thee to thy ortho asap!
Glad to hear you're doing well otherwise. Fight the workman's comp and don't let them take advantage of you.
I'm so glad you're almost finished. It encourages me to see there are others with a long treatment and they eventually complete it!

Braced for 2 years, 11 months, 2 weeks and 5 days (the 2nd time ‘round)
Hawley on top, Essix on bottom
Thank you Starzz for the thoughts. You are right maybe it is just the right amount of relapse during the day cause when I put the elastic on it really does not feel all that tight...like it was before....
I can feel what is not exactly right on the left side. My right side fits together tightly when I close my mouth, but on the left side it is kind of loose...Ok well its hard to explain and you cant see it in the pictures...(which means no one other than me and my ortho really know (wait and now you guys))....
I plan to fight workmans comp to the fullest. I did find out that I have 12 years from the date of injury before I have to file the appeal with the state, so I think I will take my time and find the right attorney and add this to my things to do in 2010 list.
2010 is going to be the year for me.
Braces Off
Off Warfarin
IVC filter out
Weight at goal weight
Off blood pressure and other meds
Graduate from College (with 2 degrees and a certificate)
My original estimate was 18-24 months....seems like that is a standard estimate unless there is something really major...but like me, my teeth are stubborn...talk about a hard internal fight...teeth move, no we wont, yes you will, no we wont...hahahahaha I WON THAT FIGHT!!!!
OH YEAH.... 5 MONTHS SMOKE FREE!!!! (and still no urges, I might have kicked the habit after all)

Getting Nervous
I just realized I am getting really nervous about not having my braces...yes really getting nervous about this....what if I dont like my teeth after the braces come off...what if....what if...what if....ok well i have been what iffing a lot lately and that is what is making me nervous.
Gotta get my head on straight!!!!! My teeth will look great once the braces are off and I will be happy with my smile...I think it looks good now, so why would it not look good without all the metal in my mouth....
Anybody else in my position right now???

Ok, so normally i do not make New Years resolutions....but 2010 is my year.
1. while i went to visit my parents, i found out my husband was cheating on me. Long story...I told him to get out....so I will be getting divorced after 8 years of marriage in 2010.
2. Going back to my roots and getting back in Church
3. Braces off
4. Off the blood thinners...see above posts of blood clots that happened over the summer
5. Removal of IVC filter
6. Lose 50-75 lbs this year, already to a good start -4.4 this last week.
7. Off blood pressure meds if i lose the weight
8. Off another medication if i lose the weight
9. Graduating College with 2 degrees and a certification
So really, i only made 1 resolution of the weight loss....but all these other things are going to happen this year. I will be a complete different person after 2010.

Oh the joys of eating without things getting stuck in the hooks of molar bands....
I am partially brace free. The remainder will come next week. I got there a little before my appointment and had to wait as I was the first person there. They started by cutting my wire just past the brackets on the canines. I still have brackets and wires from canine to canine on both top and bottom.
They glued on the fixed retainer on the top. It is only for the central incisors. The came the fun part. Getting the brackets off, no big deal, the crunch that came with it was gross, but no biggie..then came the molar bands...
I seriously thought that they were pulling my teeth out. It didn't hurt but it was a ton of pulling, and pulling, and pulling. Finally they came out. Then they hand scrapped some of the glue off (apparently some of my teeth are still sensitive and some if it did feel quite uncomfortable enough to make me flinch...but i wont say it hurt), and said that they will get the rest next week when they do the full polish. Then I got to go brush and rinse. (oh yeah, somewhere, a bracket was dropped and almost went right down my throat.)
Then we did the mould for the top...almost puked...then remembered breath through your mouth...and thankfully, it took the first time. Then I got to brush again got get that stuff out of my mouth...blah...
I will be getting the bottom fixed retainer next week along with a top hawley retainer. Apparently, I am only getting the fixed retainer for the bottoms. So my top hawley will be purple with sparklies.
I cant believe it is finally here. I was so scared that when my OD came over she would find something that was wrong and we could not take them off....but debanding has started!!!!
So do you guys want pics of partially debraced? Let me know.

here you go!!!

As you can see I dont have a perfect smile but my OD and I discussed this and without doing bonding on my lateral incisors, it would not be perfect. So then while thinking about this, I looked at tons of pictures of everyone with perfect teeth...and decided I dont want that. I still want character with my teeth and as long as it is functionalable and will work then, I am open game for keeping my original teeth the way they are.

This is going to be a little long....
Sorry, I forgot to post the pictures here...I put them on the Naked Teeth page...I was so tired after yesterday, i was not thinking straight...so here they go!!!
My retainer for the top
My new pretty smile
Bottom arch, if you look close, you can see the bonded retainer
Top arch....
Ok, so the story that went with yesterday...
Got there, and had to wait...
Got to the chair, and brackets came off, there were a few teeth that were sensitive but other wise no problem
Time to scrap off the glue....sounded like nails on a chalkboard, and almost drove me to a panic attack.
Then my OD came over and did the polishing, and grinding down the rough edges on my teeth and to make my central incisors the same length.
Retainer time...yes, no, maybe....they take it out of the packaging and put it in, there is a problem with it and it does not fit right...there was a lot of talking but if you push on the back, the front comes loose and if you push on the front the back comes loose. So now we have to take another mold to make sure they make the next one correct. But before that,
Bottom bonded retainer goes on.
Mold taken, the assistant crammed the largest thing they had there into my mouth, it hurt like a son of a B****. Saying we had to use a big one to make sure the mold is good.
So, i got a goody bag and took my sort of fitting retainer and went back to work with instructions of wearing it 24/7 except eating or playing contact sports for at least a year. I go back next week to pick up the new retainer. (the plus thing is if anything ever happens to my retainer i got a free replacement due to this one not fitting right, they are going to let me keep it.)
It is wonderful to eat again without all the hardware. I am enjoying it so much. However, taking my retainer in and out to eat has slowed my mid day munching at this point. I was pretty shocked that I only got a top hawley and nothing other than a bonded retainer on bottom.
Ken,
I ate an APPLE. I have dreamed for the last 3 years about biting into an apple....I did it yesterday....IT WAS SOOOOOO GOOD.
Bekah, well most of my teeth are effortless to floss..but i am getting the hang of this bonded retainer, so not 100% effortless but much more than before.
