How am I doing?
Well, my front upper teeth which were quite flared outwards, have been moving back into place for the last 2 months. At this point I can't bite into things like I used to - hamburger, corn on cob- as the teeth a tender and feel unstable.
My teeth look more crooked than ever. But I know that the important thing now is to eliminate the flare and close gaps before my surgery. After the surgery will be fine tuning, I'm pretty sure.

Surgery- I haven't brought it up as of yet but I have an appt next week so I'll ask then.

They've managed to rotate one of my upper ?bicuspids quite nicely. This hurt a bit for the first week.

All in all, I've adjusted quite well considering how horrified I was at the sight of my self at first.

I still think I look awful but I don't care. It's temporary. My ortho warned me from the beginning that it would get worse before it got better.
My upper lip is almost invisible now that my upper teeth are not pushing it out anymore. This is kind of ok, because it's another way of seeing that changes are happening.

I''ve lost 12 lbs in the last 7 months and have plateau'ed out here. I like it alot- I finally lost my baby weight....9 years later!!

I've come to realize that for 5-7 days after an adjustment, I shouldn't make any plans to go out for dinner as I won't be able to eat what I want.

Onward and upward!!
Thanks for reading.

Here I am 9 months later.
My teeth are not flared anymore but I've got a massive underbite now- it looks awful. But I'm still focused on the outcome, knowing that this is temporary. (that's my mantra. That and ugh you're hideous-kidding!)

Rather than having my surgery in Oct. it's not going to be until at least December boo! hoo! Maybe if the swine flu paranoia continues everyone will be wearing surgical masks anyways and I won't have to worry about my ginormous underbite!

My teeth are getting slightly wonky on one side- where I had the extraction. The gap is still not closed- about 1/4 inch left - argh! just close already!! It's been 9 months! I made a whole baby in 9 months, how come I can't get a couple of little teeth to move in that time!

My molars don't quite meet which means I'm swallowing lots of food whole- doing my best snake impression!

I saw a friend who I hadn't seen in a year and she said she wouldn't have recognized me. She said I lost a lot of weight but actually my face has just changed shape a lot. I'll see her again next summer- I wonder what I'll look like then.

These are for November - 13 months into treatment.
My surgery was predicted to be in Oct this year, then Dec. this year and now...who knows.

My ortho doesn't speak directly to me, doesn't explain my treatment.
I asked her what the next steps will be and she merely replied that she'd have to see my molds first.

She was quite friendly and talkative during the consult but I swear I get more feedback from the guy that changes my oil than she does about my own teeth.

I'm also disappointed and a bit mad that surgery is taking so long.
When the OS indicated that he was ready for me in Nov. all of a sudden she doubled up on my power chains to get my spaces closed...um, why didn't she do that 3 months ago when nothing was happening. I don't know why - because she doesn't talk to me!!!

So as you can see my upper arch is squashed a bit from the closing of the space. Now she's working on rounding my arch again, I guess.

Only two molars touch which makes chewing a challenge but you get used to it.
I know I sound like debbie downer but I can't help but be disappointed- don't get me wrong, I'm not like this every day - only when I come on here and see all the people getting their surgeries and having terrific progress or when someone asks me about my teeth.

Ok I got that off my chest. I feel a bit better now.

Hi bb..i hope your doing well! How did your surgery go? I am also a underbiter with a crossbite and openbite. I'm still contemplating surgery but I have to speak with an oral surgeon first then i guess weigh my options. For me its either surgery w/ braces or 2 extractions on the lower jaw with braces to pull bottom jaw in, or no extractions braces alone and palette extender on top to widen top jaw and hope for the best on how much my lower jaw will come in (ortho said something about probably having to tip bottom teeth in don't think i like this idea. :? Thanks for sharing your story and do keep us updated on your progress.
