Hellllllooooooo!!!!!

Dude! Where've you been? I thought I posted a note on your other thread but survey says it didn't show up :(. Anywho, I hope things are going well and your Ortho is visiting you more often. You are sooooooo lucky to have been a thumbsucker and not have to get any teeth pulled. I'm JEALOUS!!! Oh well! Here's to progress for the thumbsuckers! :-88

Since i got my braces put on in August 7 months ago, I have had a grand total of 2 adjustments! lol. My third adjustment is in April.

So to answer your question, no, I havnt seen my ortho. Hes like an old distant cousin.

My teeth do look fine though. Thats the only thing keeping me from requesting a refund. Now that they have straightened out, i can see that my gums are (slightly) uneven. So i keep floating the idea of getting gum contouring. No one seems to think i need it but me.

My ortho put me at 18-24 months. Im hoping for January of 2011-and maybe even before that.

Hopefully i can post some pics up this week. The pictures do help me stay optimistic.

Thanks for checking on me. Wish i had exciting news to report!

Two adjustments? Wow!!! That's um...interesting. April I'd ask him if he was gonna visit with me a little more than every two months, of course I'd put on some sad puppy eyes and throw in a tear or two to make it more convincing :).

He must put on a thick wire if things are staying in place well. At least your teeth still look good and are progressing!

Isn't it funny how we think we need things that everyone doesn't think we need? When it comes to your teeth (and gums), I say follow your better judgement, you know exactly what you need.

January 2011 as a potential removal date? That's not even a year away...Now I'm really jealous!!!

No problem! I had to check on you. I can't have my favs falling off the face of the earth :).

Especially since I have a tendency to fall off occasionally  Someone's gotta keep us afloat!

My son has had his braces for about 20 months, he is due to get them off this summer. Most of his appointments were spaced very far apart (2-3 months between each of them) but his teeth look fantastic now. I wouldn't worry too much about the time between appointments... just trust that your ortho knows what he is doing :D

I finally got the nerve to have my braces put on 2 weeks ago... just the uppers for now. I return at the end of May to have the lowers put on (due to my overbite). I'd like it to happen quicker, but since I can see how great my son's teeth look, I am find it a little easier to be patient.

I was going through your thread, and I wouldn't be discouraged by the amount of adjustments, cause I had gotten my braces in July 09 and so far I've only had one adjustment and with that adjustment I had bands put on my back molars, but one thing that is different and I would be concerned about is that I see my ortho EVERY month, and majority of the time its only to change my elastics.

I also had a power chain put on, just my front teeth b/c as my teeth starting shifting, I was suddenly getting a gap that I've never had.

Anyway....THE PROGRESS OF YOUR TEETH LOOK REALLY GOOD, and this is also coming from a fellow thumbsucker, lol

Your teeth are looking great. My ortho says my appts will be 6-8 wks apart except for the first one so he can see how well I'm cleaning my teeth & to check for any concerns. But I'd say that your ortho knows what he's doing because your teeth look great after only 7 months...but if you're truly concerned...I'm gonna need you to say something...(do you know that song?). Good luck.

@ cmone . Thanks, I like your clear top braces. and yes,I know that song :)

@Spicyorleanian- your screenname makes me hungry for gumbo and snowcones, drive thru daquiris and beignettes.

I feel better knowing im not the only one whose appointments are stretched far apart. Itr seems so many people have different contraptions and many more visits that i do. I guess im secretly jealous because its like their teeth are getting more attention than mine...lol.

Meanwhile I broke a bracket eating a rib and other treats on my banned list. I had to go back and get it tweaked. These visits are so anticlimatic. I swear-I dont know why i get so excited about going to the ortho. Next abppointment: June

Ken- THanks. It is kinda nice to have them spaced out. I think my teeth are starting to bore me so I keep hoping the ortho does something to make it more exciting. They were moving so much before, in those first few weeks, now i dont have much to look at...

SpicyOrleans-Still jealous but I stand corrected. I think a snowball will...um...help move my teeth faster. Thats my excuse and im sticking to it.

Almost off!!!
My take off date is May 5th. It cant come soon enough.

In december he put in a permenant retainer up top because my teeth are narrow and are likely to relapse. I was a little ambivalent about having a permenant reatiner but now i wish he would use it on both arches. I am horrible with keeping up with retainers. Im getting an essix retainer by the way. I guess they make them on site.

I'm very happy with the result this far though I am interested in some gum contouring. The gum line on the left side and the right side arent even. My dentist says he can do the contouring but im not sure if this is something more suited for a periodontist. Sucks my insurance doesnt cover it.

Anyway here are some photos for your viewing pleasure.
