The same thing happened to me! I was so excited for my first real adjustment and the ortho said to come back in 6 weeks. Glad I am not the only one. If my teeth are still moving then I am ok without the adjustment and pain. Still a little disappointing though...

hey emms...
I read your post yesterday and I didn't have time to reply. I was waiting to hear what happened at your adjustment so that i could be excited for my own! I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get a new wire, but I agree with others...if it is working and there isn't any pain...I guess we can't complain! :)  8)

My first adjustment is in ~1.5 wks....

yeah!

Hope your holidays were good.

It has been ages since I have posted what with Christmas etc... Well I have seen major movement in my upper arch, I will post pics soon. On the other hand I'm a little bit annoyed with my veneer on my front tooth, it seems to be just like a blob now on my tooth as my teeth are not in the original place they were in when I had it applied over 10 years ago now. The ortho said he would reshape it in time but I really want it done now, my teeth have gone from looking nice in the front to all crooked. I know they will move a lot and may look bad from time to time until they are eventually straight, but it sucks :( Sorry for being so negative, I'm waiting patiently for my next ortho visit scheduled for 3 weeks time, I am meant to have a wire change at this one so we'll see!!!

Bye for now

Hi everyone,

Had my adjustment today. Got a new wire on bottom, had the new wire fitted on top also but that had to come out again!!! When the ortho came to look at my teeth I told him my concern regarding my 2 front teeth and how one has moved a lot and the other is still kind of up in my gum so he decided my brackets needed to be moved position on my 3 front teeth so off came the new wire and back on with the old one. He told me with the combination of a new wire and new brackets the pressure I would feel would be unreal so the old wire goes back in to do it's work once again. I am happy with how my visit went today, he seemed to really listen to me and adjusted my brackets to get more movement.
He told me he was amazed at how fast my teeth are moving (maybe he says that to everyone  ) but hey I'm taking it as a huge compliment :)

I am in pain once again, finding it hard to eat, I had my little comfy zone area that I could always throw a bit of food back on and munch away but now that area is so sore, I guess I'll have to introduce food to other parts of my mouth!!!

It took me 4 months to master eating with my two front teeth, now that has changed after today but I know no pain no gain, so this pain is good, bring it on, I want these braces off as soon as possible!!!!

I have to say it was nice feeling my teeth bracket free for about 5 mins while they were preparing my new brackets, I kept running my tongue over my teeth, it felt so good.

:D Hi Emms,
Thanks for looking in on my story. I'm feeling pretty good about this ortho ride with the nice company here...

So, by your recent update, it sounds like you might be going through round 2 of pain (from your bottom wire change). My bottom teeth aren't braced yet, but I remember from my first time how painful the bottoms can get. :( Almost 2 weeks in, I've still got some minor discomfort going on up top, though.

Your pics look great!! The progress was noticeable in the early ones, but dramatic in the most recent. Your peek-a-boo tooth has really come forward to say 'hi'. Funny... my wife had one of them too, before her braces. It's amazing what orthodontics can do!

I'm glad to see your progress, and sure hope your discomfort is passing. I'll be following your story. See ya around...

Hi Emms...
Your teeth are lookin great! I like your brackets! I wanted clear, but they don't really offer them at the practice I am going to! I had my second adjustment yesterday. No new wire, but wire tied on the left hand side and powerchained on the front four....I'm sore on the right hand side today...

Happy Valentines day!

Hi everyone,

Just back from my 3rd adjustment, got new wires on top and bottom. The weirdest thing happened to me in the last few days though, I have a top lip like collagen has had a party on it!!! It is huge. The ortho reckons I might have developed a gradual sensitivity to the nickel in the wires. Has anyone ever heard of this before? So the nurse went ahead and changed my wires after me telling her about my swollen lip (as if she couldn't see for herself) and then when the ortho came along and saw them he asked her to change the wires once again to nickel less. What an ordeal. It was quite painful and I don't want to go back anymore :(
So that is my update. Haven't had the best of times with the braces the last few weeks, developed a bad abcess about 2 weeks ago which I have been swishing prescribed mouthwash ever since for that!!

Ah well, the joys of braces eh

Hope everyone is doing ok? I have a lot of reading/catching up posts to do :)

Hi Emms...
we're on the same schedule! YEAH! I get my 3rd adjustment on thursday! I've had a sore in my mouth for the past few weeks also. I finally started using wax again and it is clearing up. I've heard of nickel sensitivity. Sorry that your lips and stuff are swollen. Hopefully everything will calm down now that you ahve a different wire!

Hang in there girl. we are almost 6 months into this! ACK!

Have a good day!

Hi Emms!

Your extraction gaps are closing like magic! What's your secret? :) Sorry to hear about the abcess and nickel sensitivity :(. I hope you are feeling better. It's kind of lame to go this far only to realize that, that is happening. Never-the-less there's hope! Hang in there as much as it hurts. You'll be glad in the long haul.

Wow, I feel so bad, haven't been on in so long!!! Had family in town and was just super busy.
Had my 4th adjustment start of May (thanks Trish for checking in on me :D ) and it was without incident really. I have to say my ortho is lovely but some of the assistants really are rude, they never make conversation with me and I feel just weird lying there waiting to see what they have up their sleeves for me this time!!! It just makes me uncomfortable. So regarding my top wire the ortho put a step in it, what he did was put pressure on the wire between my top 2 front teeth and pulled the wire down so it looks there is a little step there, reason he did this was to pull my tooth down from my gum, and guess what, it worked a bit but the bloody thing is still up there and I am so conscious of how crooked my front teeth look now!!!
I am back June 29th for my 5th adjustment so will be interesting to see what he thinks of my little development that I had (in my opinion)
Right, must go and catch up with lots of stories, will post after my next adjustment.
Bye for now, Emms :D
