Day 263

Day 1

Day 263

Ok, so first off as you can see....I did get the Christmas colored ligs. There nice. I should have picked the other red, because this one is too light colored...almost looks a reddish pink. Other than that, very festive.
So, I had an adjustment today. Was not looking forward to it, as they have become very painfull. But....Ol St. Nick must have wanted to give me a Christmas present early. So, she takes off the old ligs, and say's, "wow...these are really clean they don't look dingy at all", "you must not drink coffee or staining foods", to which I said, "nay my little elfy friend (ok, I didn't really say that, but you get the pic) I DO drink coffee, AND...basicly eat whatever the hell I want. Staining foods included. I....am a brushing....FA-REEEEEEEEEEK!!!!! She was like, "guess so, cause those look awesome". (Pat on my back here.)
So the dentist comes over, starts yankin around, about made me pee my pants he did. Damn did that hurt. He was like, sorry but I have to do it. So he say's, go up 2....(you read it right) TWO wires. These top teeth just DO NOT want to get in line, and we're going to have to get serious here. Your gonna hate life for the next couple days....but we HAVE to do something. Something I tell you. (I was like, ok sir...what ever you say)
Then he says, "go up another wire strength on the bottom, basicly now we're looking at widening it a bit and leveling some off." "Oh ya, and I'm telling you right now, this is gonna hurt", "sorry, but have to do it", "sorry". (sniff, sniff, ok....)
Anyway, so she goes to town...and whatdayaknow.....it barely hurt at ALL!!!!!!!!! She was frickin awesome. I almost asked her to marry me!!!!! (kidding) MAN does it make a difference when they know what the hell their doing. A HUGE difference.
Still, my bite is wayyyyy off. Now that it has been a couple hours my front teeth are becoming a bit tender. I have a feeling that soon, we're going to start discussing my implants. (and no, not for my boobs) although.....
Anyway, I'm suppose to get an implant on my lower right but was told we would hold off till they start to straighten out. Well....their looking pretty straight to me. Curious to see what the future holds for that........

You go School GIRL!
Your bottom arch looks wonderful. I think it looks almost "there".
As for your appointment, I never had my ortho say "you're going to hate me in the morning." If she did, I would have panicked. I think what you meant to mean was he went up two wire sizes, not increasing from one to two wires. I can understand that your ortho is hoping to see some straightening on your top arch. Those front two teeth look like they're way to stubborn for your good.
You've made great progress....someday soon you'll be brace free and won't be able to remember what they look like but glad you did it.

Ok, so first off, I can't count...because it hasen't been 263, it's been 236.
Luchababe: Yes, it seems like for-freekin-ever!!! But, my lowers pretty much straightend out pretty quickly. About at the 3 to 4 month mark I think they looked like this. As for my damn tops.....I don't even watch them anymore, because they move to slow. I'm just hoping one day I look, and ba-bamm....their in line!!!!
Mike: You are correct....up 2 strengths...not 2 wires at the same time....although, I must say, at the rate these teeth are moving
, it probably will get to that. I can tell by his sighs, and him constantly saying, "man, we're going to be seeing each other for a very long time", that these are moving much slower than the "norm".
My teeth are pretty tender today. It's funny because they keep telling me my front left 2 are going to be sore, and it's my front right 2 that are sore. Anyway, I don't care what's sore, as long as it does the trick!!!!

Greetings Jen
I just noticed you posted on my story to say hi. Well, back at ya! I made a short post today, but promise for a much longer one soon. I've been so busy the last couple of months, I've only visited here and there...but yours is one story I've kept tabs on. Your recent pics are showing some much deserved progress (I know you've had to earn it with pain). They look great...and lovin' your xmas ligs. My next appt. is xmas eve - maybe I'll "deck the braces" like that too.
See Ya...
Mike

Ahhh Mike...your still out there!!! So good to "see" and hear
Well, something very strange has happened over the last week since my last adjustment.
I cannot put my finger on it
, which is why I haven't "said" anything till now. I first realized it about Wednesday. (Or 2 days after my appointment.)
So I was getting ready one morning, and I kept noticing that I....liked, my smile. Now, for those of you who have no clue as to what I'm talking about, then the rest of this post....is pointless. But for those of you who have gone a good part of your life, absolutely loathing your smile
, not being able to tolerate looking in the mirror, at pictures, catching a glimpse from a reflecting window as your talking to someone and getting that..."oh, GOD....keep your damn mouth shut" feeling....will know exactly what I mean by, this....was a first.
Anyway, for the rest of the week and over the weekend, many times I would "catch" a glimpse and be like, "what is so different...in my teeth...that is making my smile look so different...so much more...more....nicer?" I've stared at my teeth oh....about a good total 10 hrs
, and I still, do not see a major difference than before my appointment, but "holy mother of teeth happiness", by golly something has changed. Because....my smile looks...looks....well, it's just plain ol starting to look great!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you freakin believe it????? I...have....never....been.....able.......to.....say....or.....even......THINK.......
those.....words....BEFORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really though, I'm starting to wonder if some of it isn't my arch starting to widen. I've got more teeth showing now when I smile, and those teeth....ARE STRAIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....(all but one anyway)
Anywho, like I said...can't directly put my finger on what the difference is. Monday I went to my adjustment, and by Wednesday, something was different in my smile. Enough to where I thought, and have kept thinking...."I like it"....."I really like it".
Of course, now I can't stop staring at my smile in every reflective object available to man. I mean, at Thanksgiving dinner I kept whipping out my butter knife and would try to catch a glimpse.....the turkey had a shinny enough skin where I tried on that.....and uncle Sal....well, he's bald, and short.....so I had lots of opportunity every time he looked down to eat. I know, strange, but if you've ever not liked your smile.....just wait till it happens to you. Your gonna freak. Just like I am!!!!!!!!
(and I'm not even close....to being finished.....holy freakin fingernails....what will I be like then???!!!!!!
)

I'm not around much anymore. There's a few people I connected with that I follow their stories. Once you and a couple of others complete their treatment, I'll probably not visit at all. Archwired did a lot of good things for me, but like so many before me, it will be time to move on.
Anyway..... I do understand the addiction of looking at a smile that you deserve after all these years of hiding your teeth or trying to ignore them. I'm sure there's a lot of us who experienced the same thing. It hasn't gotten old for me yet.
The experience you're having now is the best justification form many to be braced. Its a feeling that is hard to explain but by golly it does feel GOOD!
Mike
