Thanks Wheellug! You just confirmed a previous suggestion I was given. On Tuesday I sucked it up and went ahead and called my Dentist about the white spots. They suggested that I ask my Orthodontist about it and said that MI Paste is recommended for recalcification.

Monday after my appointment or maybe that evening I will be possibly making a trip to see my Dentist to get started.

How is the MI Paste doing on your teeth so far? Any luck with the white spots?

Well ladies and gents, wish good ol' Buckey a happy day for Monday! And a cure for WSP - White Spot Paranoia

My decalcification is on my back molars so I really have trouble seeing it with all the metal covering it. Next time I have a cleaning (hopefully by then I am brace free) I will ask her again and see how it has worked. I am just trying to keep my teeth strong and healthy. I don't like to brush with flouride toothpaste because I brush so many times a day I do not want that much flouride in my body - not that flouride has helped me in the past either since I have a mouthful of metal fillings. Just crossing my fingers that once they braces are off the x-rays will show that I have no cavities, visually I have nothing that is a concern for the dentist but of course they cannot be sure of between teeth until the next set of x-rays.

Wheellug,

Curious, how do you use the MI Paste? Do you brush with it? My son's pediatric dentist recommended this - but he's too young to really spit it out. So, I put some on his teeth after brushing - but only a dab.

I follow the directions on the box. I brush with it because it is hard to get around the molars and then I leave it in my mouth for 2-3 minutes, spit is out and then I don't eat or drink for 1/2 hour afterward or you can do it in the evening before bed.

Do you brush twice or just use it as you would toothpaste?

I brush, floss etc. first and then I use the MI Paste. According to the box it is kind of activated by saliva so the longer you swish it around in your mouth and keep on the teeth the better. I just use the toothbrush to get around the braces. When I have them removed I will just use my finger to apply.

Hello All!!!

Well, all is well in Orthodontic Land today :D. From what the Tech who was working on me said today, I have nothing to worry about when it comes to decalcification. I do have to be careful and make sure I dislodge any plaque that may be evident, but what I have are not white spots from improper brushing. My teeth are just made like that. Now that I can recall pre-brace days :) I do remember my canines were not only vicious, they also were naturally colored weird.

The Ortho is not concerned so I'm gonna loosen my grip and stop it with WSP...BUT!!! On my next dentist visit which will be in May I will be asking them for their opinion as well.

I'm not busting open my piggy bank to get great looking chompers only to end up with great looking STAINED chompers. That's not cool.

Pics will be coming soon, I'm looking for a moment to take them. I'm light blue now! Not to mention! I have a thicker upperwire (and can feel it...).

It's been brief yet...fun. I'll chat with you wonderful folks later!!!

Thank you all!!!

Ellebraced, there was a minor particular reason why I chose blue. I'm going to be in a play next month before my adjustment. I wanted the most neutral (yet fun) color that I hadn't chose before and this sky blue happened to be the lucky choice! I don't want too much attention on my mouth, and then have everybody giving me this look >>. Even if they don't, I still wanted a neutral look. I can't wait to get these babies off!

For even more good news. I'm a little gappy because of my powerchain configuration, (things have to get ugly in order for them to look good sometimes ) but after sticking to a baking soda peroxide mix ONLY (except at the Orthodontist office) one of my white spots is disappearing! It shrunk down to about half it's size! I'm so friggin EXCITED!!! I'll just keep it up so my teeth continue to improve. The mixture of the two isn't as bad as taking them one at a time by the way. It could be I'm completely oblivious to the flavor too so you may not want to listen to me.

Well Everyone...I stayed up late to watch Toy Story 3 (Man! Why did I wait so long to see it?) which was great, I have to get up at 5-5:30am and I think I'm just a tinsy whinsy bit delirious. It's time to go night night!!! :-Z

It's been 15 minutes of fun with you all!!!

Well hello there sjs8906! I'm glad you've read my story and I'm keeping you entertained!

Thanks (to the blue ligs), thanks (to the compliment), and REALLY (to residency in the state of NC). I just moved up here 8 months ago, as you probably saw in my story and I'm in good old Raleigh.

It's so nice to know I'm not the only one on AW in NC. :D
