I am waiting for my records appointment at the first ortho, still. I already had this appointment at the second ortho but she needs three weeks to assess (and to attend a conference) so I won't hear that verdict until later in the month. My other records appointment is in ten days. I don't know how long he'll take to give his treatment plan but basically my decision will be this: If they both say extractions are necessary then I'll go lingual. If ortho 2 is willing to try no extractions and 1 isn't (1 isn't likely, imo) then I'll have to go with ceramic, I think. I just don't know the emotional effect ceramics will have on me but I'll cross that bridge if/when I get to it. Ideal would be if ortho 1 would be willing to try a TAD and no extractions with lingual but it isn't looking promising based on his attitude from the consult.
Thanks for asking! How long did you have to wait between records and treatment plan results?

I had my consultation in Sept where they took x-rays etc. and came up with a treatment plan then I went back in October to have my moulds taken ready for the lingual brace & then 6 weeks later I went back and had the brackets fitted but had to have extractions so didn't have the wire fitted & then after that had it fitted in December.

So it's early days for me really.

Good luck with your decision

Not much to report on. Can't see my lowers have moved recently. My top teeth are getting there & starting to look more straight. Think I have slow moving teeth :x

Third adjustment done & dusted today though

Had both wires changed and looks like i've lost my wire ties?? where my brace was connected at the front to the plastic tube thingy. (Great description I know) Also looks like i've lost the wire that went around my brackets on my 2 canines (might have had something to do with the wire tie) much prefer the look now - I just have the clear bracket with the wire running through the middle. Didn't realise that the wire around the edge wasn't permanent. I did think it didn't look like that on the model I saw lol.

1 of my upper back teeth is throbbing :-+ it's the last tooth to be connected and must have a lot of pressure on it.

I've also now got something sitting in the middle of my wire where my extraction gaps are on my lowers. His trying to pull my teeth over. Maybe it's a power chain?? Not sure. Think its the same sort of device I had on my uppers which has been removed now.

Will post piccies when I get chance.

I asked today when my front 4 lower teeth will be connected to the rest of the brace & he said about another 2-3 visits. So I might be fully braced just in time for my b'day in may. Can't wait until it's all connected because then my teeth can start to align & finally head towards that 'U' shape we're all after. At the mo they look awful can't wait to see this happen.

OUCH just tried to eat some chopped up apple & I could barely bite down on it :yuck: I love that feeling tho you know somethings happening. Not felt anything in a while

I was thinking of writing, "What a great birthday present..to finally be fully braced" and then I realized that I must be living in some crazy-mind world when I think that it is a "gift" to get full braces! What I really think is that it will probably be a nice feeling on your birthday to feel that you are really getting the show on the road and will be that much closer to the end:) Sound more sane???

HOLY COW ......... My teeth are killing me this morning since that wire change yesterday  Woke up in complete agony!!

Had to pop a couple of ibuprofen. Not felt pain like this since the first few days I was braced.
I'd been thinking recently .. this brace malarky is easy peasy after the first week no more pain ... uh think again lol

Wow! They really do look quite a bit straighter! I didn't realize they were tipped forward a little until I saw the comparison. I was thinking they looked pretty good to start with, but wow. If it weren't for extraction gaps those uppers would have me asking how long:)

Thanks lilone. Do they really look that much straighter??
I didn't think there was a big difference but when I look in the mirror & smile it's defo a different smile staring back at me :)

Trust me they were awful to begin with .... you must need your eyes testing lol :D
My lowers are the worst but there isn't a great change in them yet.

The quality of my pictures isn't very good. I've been using my phone to take pics because they just turn out blury on my camera when I zoom in & find it awkward.

WOW I am so chuffed!!!

I had my first 2 comments this week about my teeth looking straighter. I thought they were starting to look it but because no one had mentioned it I thought it wasn't that noticeable.

I am over the moon. My dad made the first comment on Saturday whilst talking to me & the second comment was someone at work who noticed whilst I was talking to them. It's only been 2 months with my linguals but seems they are doing the trick yay!! :D

Aww that's great lu lu :D. I haven't had any of those comments yet, but then again I try to keep my teeth hidden still. I show my mum, but anyone else I am embarrassed.

I'm glad to hear you are happy with your progress so far. Seeing movement yourself is great, but having others notice it too must feel real good!

Thanks for stopping by Chrystal :D

Yeah i'm chuffed that i've finally had some comments especially as i've been so annoyed at how slow my teeth are moving.

My uppers aren't the problem it's my lowers. I've had my lowers braced for 4 months & literally there is nothing!!!! :-= :-+ 1 of my twisted canines has moved but the other 1 is dragging it's feet. I can't wait until they're where they should be so we can crack on as can't have my full brace until they're right.

Btw that's the great thing about my lingual not concious at all. Forget I have them sometimes.

How are you doing?

Just back from my fourth adjustment I think it is and I am finally FULLY braced. Had my bottom front 4 teeth bracketed and connected to the rest of my brace.
It's taken 4-5 months but that left canine has finally shifted over. It's been fustrating waiting but I can now finally watch them start to line up and make that U shape we all long for :-*

No pain yet or rubbing (know that's to come, must remember to carry some wax around).

At the moment they are so ugly. The wire is think and wonky YUCK. I know i'll soon adjust. I remember how much I hated my brace when I first had it fitted with that plastic tube connecting it all together. Soon got used to it.

My lowers are looking vile at the mo as everything shifts about. I defo fall into the group it gets worse before it gets better.

My ortho hasn't touched my uppers this time. He says they are moving along nicely and the bottoms need to catch up now and that we'll concentrate on them for a bit.

Oh had my THIRD comment the weekend about my top teeth looking straighter HAPPY DAYS wahoo!!!!

Happy Wednesday all

x

p.s - Booked my jollies since I last wrote, so on countdown now. Roll on July. I wonder what my teeth will be looking like then 8)

UPDATE - My teeth are starting to hurt like a b**ch now OOOOWWWWWW

Also how do you guys manage to eat. Everything gets stuck in the dam things. Not used to this with my linguals & it never happened before with my tube.

I just ate a salad at my desk & started talking & it wasn't until I looked in the mirror I had bits of carrot, pepper & lettuce hanging out of the brackets.

Really not attractive ha ha

hey is this chrystal??

I'm very well thanks. how's u?

Still ploding along with my braces. The end is in sight somewhat.
It hasn't been that bad tho to be fair. A walk in the park really (touch wood I haven't jinxed that lol)

I asked the golden question early on in the year when I could expect them off & he said sept. Now its getting closer I don't think it will be but thats ok i'm not happy for them to come off yet & like I say they don't bother me. Especially as you can't see the top 1.

How are you getting on?

Thanks for getting in touch. Nice to speak again :-)
