Hello! As my log-in name suggests, I am 55 years old and about to get braces on my upper teeth (invisalign). I had head gear on as a teenager, but did not need the whole procedure. However, as I grew older, my mouth began to change and my bottom teeth are pushing my front teeth forward. I was supposed to get the first set of plates yesterday, but there was some sort of a communication problem between the orthodontist and the company and now I have to wait another couple of weeks, now scheduled for the Tuesday after Memorial Day.
Would appreciate any input from other adult wearers, although my husband had his put on when he was in his early 30s (wires) and is giving me some encouragement. Thanks!

Re: Double Nickle's Story
Hi Double Nickel,
Hey, I am 55 too and just got my 1st set of braces ever on April 29 of this year...so I am very new at this.
Mine are Damon Q all metal top and bottom--I even got nixed on the ceramic--too much overjet etc etc--had
to get the strong stuff...
I don't know about you, but I don't feel any different at 55 than I did at 35.....and I am happy I got the braces because I feel like it makes me look like a more interesting person. It's really weird, but my husband likes them too. He says it makes me look like one of those older rich ladies--hahahaha--nothing could be further from the truth!!!
How long will you have in yours? I have 2yrs---so pretty much still 2 yrs to go!! I haven't seen anything change in the 2 1/2 weeks I've had them on...At the end of July I have to do the spacers thing again to get a couple more molar bands on, and a stronger archwire...etc..I'm glad I get a while to get used to these. All this stuff in my mouth!! And the eating and cleaning thing...it's a lot of work, but I really am able to appreciate that I was able to get braces, no matter what my age!
I'm looking forward to following your journey!
