Buckey...is a wire tie the same thing as a steel ligature? I have one that is boring a hole in my lip I just know it! He wrapped it around the bracket and wire in addition to the o-ring explaining that it's necessary because it's stronger than an elastic and forces the tooth it's on to rotate quicker.

I get wire ties as my powerchain because then I can eat what I want without having to worry about the ligatures staining. It's slightly more noticeable but does not stain nasty yellow as I eat alot of stews/curries.

Great progress. I love following your stories. How do you take such nice pics and how do you post them on here without using a picture website?

Hi HeyBuckey (need to change your name now :P)
Amazing progress, had to go to the ortho the other day to get one of my bracket retached. Up to now, I have only had tie-wires, asked him and he said that they were to realign my teeth before he is able to close off the gaps. So as you said, rotations :) How many more months to go??? You teeth should be done in a few months - so jealous :)

Hello All!!!

Crazy4Snow That's exactly what it's for, for me! I saw the Tech twisting those things that look like pliers and she broke the first two. It is supposed to rotate my tooth which I think it did it's job. I have an appt on the 25th. Hopefully I'll remember to take a comparison pic for you all!

Hi Chocomorsel! You know, I just looked in the mirror a few minutes ago and thought, "I'm NEVER getting silver ligs again!" They always turn out to be a kiwi shimmer color instead. :P As for my pictures, I use a Kodak Easy Share and turn the camera on the flower option and change the light setting to tungsten. Usually that works but nine times out of ten I take like 30 pictures, I just pull the best ones like they do one America's Next Top Model. A lot of times the close ups come out extremely blurry. I've had the camera over a year and I'm still getting used to it. :( For my photo's I put them in Photobucket and use the IMG code and paste it in my message. It usually helps me post the pictures without having to send anyone to an alternate site. In the beginning I used my cell phone which'll answer why some of the pictures had crappy quality.

BiP! Hello!!! Alright! I'm glad your Ortho cleared that up. You already have had wire ties? Wow...luckily it wasn't as uncomfortable as I thought it was going to be...I hope in a few months! But...they are saying I'm in my 7th (almost 8th) month of treatment with my new Ortho. The Tech said I have 7 more to go. :( Before I get really sad, I'm going to see what my teeth have to say about this. :P

Ellebraced! Hello! Thank you soooo much! It's been a long journey, but I'm looking at 6-7 more months at the maximum. Hopefully they'll be off before then!

Well everyone, it's been real, it's been fun. It's been real fun; and now it's time for me to hit the sack!

Goodnight!!!

Hello All!!!

I could cry right now. I hit a link and lost all of my post! I was almost finished! I'm cunning and witty but I'm never able to duplicate my cunning and witty comments. :P I had an appointment on Monday and figured, why not share the pics of my teeth with my AW family? Someone HAS to know I still exist and have decided against sitting in a corner trying to claw these babies right out of my mouth!!!

Anywho, I brought pictures!!!

Image

I totally dig the rubber band that joined the pic. :)

Image

Left side. *Sigh* This hole STILL isn't closed?

Image

If I didn't know any better I'd say my left side is jealous of my over achieving right side.

Image

Today I just realized there is some work that needs to be done on my lower row. The left side is starting to look good but my teeth are cramped. A little space please?!

Image

The famous Upper row!!!

Image

Bite pic!!! It is indeed getting closer, in spite of my complaining...

So as it seems my Ortho has shortened my visits from every six weeks to ever 4 weeks which makes me happy. It could be because of the elastics wear or because I have about 6 more months or torture to go through. :D I'm still on the same Class II elastic on the right side only which is definitely to get it's eyes off the left and into the RIGHT direction. I had a new Tech this time, She was great and awesome, and fast! And she didn't let me choose my lig colors! Anyone who knows good ol' Buckey knows she likes to change her ligature colors! I was going for a cool purple. A color I never did before excluding the lavendar ligs I got in November. Instead she picked grey and now I fear all of my newest pictures look a lot like last months...But oh well!!! I go back in less than 4 weeks! I will surely change them then!!! Well everyone, I seem to be suffering from exhaustion because I can't keep my eyes open so you'll hear from me soon!!!

Hi Crazy4Snow & Rhomboid!

Sorry about my late response. It's been a little busy around here lately. Thank you so much both of you! You two are awesome and I can't wait to check out your progress thus far. Even if I don't comment, please know that I am lurking around your threads. :P Most days I just can't think of what to say...

The job is going awesome by the way, I wouldn't trade what I do now for what I used to do. I go home worry free not thinking about what task is going to present itself the next day. And I'm starting to get back to normal financially which is definitely a plus!

I just noticed something strange in my pics so...please excuse me but I'll need to go stare at them for a while. :P It's been great reconnecting with you all!!!

Ciao!!!

Hi BiP!!!

You too eh?

I know for sure I've got a little bit of anemia going on, hence the ice munching. I couldn't eat ice when I first started braces however because my teeth were so sensitive because I got 5 fillings. Talk about pain! I tried munching on ice once my teeth felt a little stronger and I was ready to go into convulsion how bad it felt! Now, if the ice sits on my teeth too long it hurts. So I just crunch really fast. :P

I'm getting so close I can literally taste it! It's driving me wild!!! I think I have about 5 more months to go maximum. I can't wait to hear, "Well, looks like we can take these off on your next visit." I'd probably pee my pants. I'm getting really ansy now because I'm approaching my second year which is when I originally expected to have them off. :( But ah well! I can't always have things go my way.

Stay tuned, I have pictures!

Well everyone,

Things appear to be moving smoothly. I can't wait to hear a debracing date although I may be a little way away from it. I'm practically done with elastics. My Ortho has me on night duty on the right side only. I still have this strange urge to put the rubber bands on during the day however.

It's like they're a part of me or something.

In the mean time, I've learned a new flossing technique! It includes proxy brushes. Just last week I learned I have enough space between my gumline and teeth to get a proxy brush in. I didn't feel like I was doing any "quality" flossing and this method proved my feeling to be true. :( I knew it because my mouth...it bled terribly in some spots. After doing it for a couple of days, the bleeding is gone and my teeth feel squeaky clean! I had to do something to keep my orthodontic motivation on the up and up because honestly...it just isn't.

Anywho! Here are the pics from Thursday's visit!

Aw! I had to choose another color because purple was taken. I do like the result however. :)

Thanks BiP!

Only problem is the gap hasn't closed yet. I do think it'll close really soon though because I got a heavier upper wire and the space has closed alot already.

With heavier wires comes more pain. I've got that evil teething feeling going on and I still can't bite into something with out feeling like my teeth are going to be pulled out of my mouth when the grip is released. :P Not to mention...it's been a week since my adjustment. Wild...

You're teeth will get there before you know it, considering they already have improved DRASTICALLY in the time you've been in them. I keep looking back like OMG! I'm already approaching my SECOND year in braces? The time flies really fast! I still don't understand what took me so long...
