Getting Braces (Ceramic) on next week..age 31..NERVOUS WRECK

I am soooo nervous.. I wonder if ill cry once I look at my new mouth that will be in braces for 18-21 months. Someone keep me brave over here!! ...my husband says its no big deal, am I that vain??

It really is worse waiting to get the braces on. I can honestly say no one notices them. And when I do see people looking at my mouth real quick, they never say anything. I have metal, and always get red ligs, and still no one says anything. So I think ceramics will get even less attention. After the first month you'll stop thinking about them so much. They really don't get in the way of anything, other than eating.

What are u worried about? Braces is the it thing to do...only cool people have braces...lol

I've had my braces for 3 months. I actually had to tell some people that I'd gotten braces since they didn't even notice. I think we are often more conscious of the braces than those around us. Keep your spirits up and always think about the end result. That is why we are all doing this.

It is far more obvious to ourselves because we can feel the bulky things in our mouths and we THINK they are soooo obvious and everyone notices. But its not true. Really. I started a new job with ceramic uppers and metal lowers and it came the time when i had to leave early for an ortho appointment. I went to tell my boss and she goes "Oh i forget you have braces, i don't notice them." They are a PAIN especially when it comes to eating but really, they arent noticeable i promise you. I've even had someone (with bad teeth) say to me they are jealous that I am both brave enough and wealthy enough to go ahead and get them as an adult!
