stevo1985 wrote:6 days in with the top set. Still pretty tender - just ate a tuna and cucumber roll from M&S its the incisors which hurt, is this normal?
Will be visiting my dentist on Friday to arrange the extractions. Joy!
i blv it is normal to still have some tenderness after 6 days. while i was lucky to be tenderness-free after 3-4 days, my ortho did warn me that i could face discomfort for up to 2 weeks.
Thanks Kelly, hope all is well. I'm sure mine aren't the strongest or healthiest which probably doesn't help. They are better than they were at least. I'll see how I go
Just a small update: Finally time to have some extractions in the morning...followed by 2 more in about 2 weeks. Have booked 2 days off work which will hopefully be enough? If not will have more.
Seeing a bit of progress with one tooth moving already, not sure if that's because it is not as strong as the others.. also they seemed to be getting stained pretty quickly
oh well will update/moan following extractions! Wish me luck!
2 1/2 days since the extractions now. Haven't had any pain but quite a bit of trouble getting them to stop bleeding. I has soup and bread about 36 hours after the extractions last night which triggered the bleeding.
So I stayed off food all of today and have just eaten and it's ok at the minute. Anyone know how long until I'm out of the woods? I've been brushing and rinsing very lightly. God help me when I have 4 holes to look after in 2 weeks! :s
Sorry to hear you're having difficulty with bleeding! I was fortunate that I had none whatsoever in all 4 of my extractions.
As for how long before you're out of the woods, I can't tell for sure in your case, but I found it took about a week for each of my extractions to settle down. I expect you should have stopped bleeding before then.
Hope they get better soon!
My Story — Braced on 2 March 2012. 4 premolar extractions. Ceramic/clear uppers, metal lowers. Duration of 2 years. Currently: Third adjustment 19 June (all teeth bracketed!)
Sorry to hear about the issue with bleeding. Being without food can really get your mood down. Hope you can reward your self with something good soon enough.
2012 Spring - Braces on
2013 Autumn - Surgery
2014 Spring - Braces off
Thanks for the replies. 2 days with no bleeding now, diet has been severely restricted but nearly 4 days since extractions no pain or problems visible at the minute so fingers crossed.
Have just rinsed with corsodyl. Really looking forward to proper food and being able to brush thoroughly. Had tuna and pasta tonight, think I can try some tougher food and hot drinks over the weekend - I've probably been over cautious!?
Final two extractions are due in the morning... :S first two seemed to be ok in the end. All being well in about 2 weeks I have my 2nd ortho appointment to start the lower brace and 1st adjustment to the top.
All extractions went to plan. 2nd ortho visit today, thought I was getting my bottom brace but no, not sure why just don't think they had time.
Fitted a new wire but same gauge on the top as said there was a bit further to go on this wire yet. Booked in 11 June for bottom brace and presumably bigger wire top.
My teeth feel tender tonight, even though I'm on the same gauge wire - could it be tighter than before? If not then maybe it's just cos it hurt a little when he fitted the new wire.
Compare the above to this one which was taken on day 1. Not much movement yet but one on the left has moved into line a bit? The wire seems a bit straighter too.
