On My way!!

Re: On My way!!
Had my appt yesterday and didn't end up getting a new wire. did get shorter and newer power chains and on top of it, a wire tie was added to one of my premolars to keep it from rotating.
It was not a pleasant visit and I am still in pain today. It even pains me on my right bottom molars when I rinse my mouth or even drink water. So I am now drinking through a straw today and that seems to help.
I have been given the green light to get the rest of my teeth braced and will be a full fledged metal mouth at the end of the month!
Looking forward to it, but am also nervous.

Aw, sorry to hear you're in pain! Shorter power chains, huh? Good progress! Don't know much about wire ties, but they sound like a pain.
I'll be getting fully braced by the end of next month Wish that included wisdom teeth too, though, as the one that has come through is at a real angle!

My Story — Braced on 2 March 2012. 4 premolar extractions. Ceramic/clear uppers, metal lowers. Duration of 2 years.
Currently: Third adjustment 19 June (all teeth bracketed!)

Re: On My way!!
Hi Dom, Thanksf or stopping by and posting.
I decided to move my appointment to May 22 to have the rest of the braces installed. My molars on the bottom right are still paining me, but nothing near as much as the first couple of days.
I am nervous about getting the rest of the braces put on. I have been quite content with smiling and knowing that only my molars have been braced and all this time it hasn't been noticeable.
Now having the rest put on Tuesday will have me going through the discomfort and inability to eat again for awhile.
I decided i'll get purple ligs for my full brace day.
Guess when that day is done, I'll really feel like what have done all over again.

Re: On My way!!
Got all of my teeth bracketed except for the one in top next to my front tooth and one on the bottom next to my bottom front tooth. New powerchains too. I chose purple ligs. My newly bracketed teeth r feeling it and r not happy.

Re: On My way!!
Today is my adjustment. So not looking forward to it. My stomach is already acting up. I thought I was ok, but this morning, like every morning when I have an adjustment, I've been feeling sick.
Can't wait to get it over with. At least i'm seeing progress, although I am gaps in places that I have never had and things are looking weird in some places, i see progress.
Wish my stomach would feel better when I have to go to the ortho or dentist...

Re: On My way!!
Hope your adjustment went well yesterday Anngie - I had one yesterday too. I know what you mean about getting yourself into a panic about it. I never sleep well before any dental appointments, and then they are typically no big deal (at least that has been my recent experience).
Re: On My way!!
HI CleoAZ! Although I hated the whole visit and had to remind myself to breath through my nose the whole time, I was super happy that he took off the buttons and ligual power chains! I now have "regular" good ole fashion metal braces only--no more buttons and powerchains. I also got myself a coil so that it could make roon room for the tooth next to the bottom front one. I picked turquoise ligs too and couldn't be happier. Getting one rotated tooth in the mix with a new power chain took the ortho 6 tries. Not fun! i was breathing really deeply during that one. Taking the buttons off was a little nerve racking on 2 teeth that are more wobbly than the others. Grinding the glue off wasn't bad except for the smell.
I didn't sleep well last night due to the ache, but about 9 this morning, things got better. I actually ate decent lunch so things are ok.
How was your adjustment? do you have ligs?

Re: On My way!!
Hi Ebony! How are you! I just posted a response to Cleo and saw yours right after i posted it! Taking the pictures was no fun either. The tech couldn't get the camera to focus and I have a terrible gag reflex. I almost flung the mirror and retractors at her! I mean, how long did she think i was going to tolerate having the retractors and mirror and her spraying the air to unfog the mirror while she adjusted the camera?? After that, She got someone else to do it and he was much quicker. That was kind of the icing on the cake for me.
Re: On My way!!
Wow! That sounds like an adventures adjustment! So you got a new power chain? Wow, you’re doing this with style! With this speed I’m soon behind you in the treatment. Are power chains as bad as they say?
Times flies by, right? You have already had your molar braced four months!
I’m fine. I think my appointment on Friday did something to me, that I have finally accepted these braces or something. It might just be that I’m in a good moment but anyhow, I feel more relaxed than ever. I’m crossing my finger that it’s there to last!
And I hope things will be easier for you too

Re: On My way!!
Not goin to lie ebony, at first the power chain is uncomfortable to loop onto the tooth especially if it is cut shorter than usual. I have had them on my molars on both the lingual side and front side from the beginning. Just having the one is way easier than 4 on both sides. I think for us its going to the appt and what will be done this time more so than the pain itself. I'm in it for the long haul and hope u will be there with me since we started about the same time. I'm so proud of u and how far you've come. It took me years to get up the courage to do this and see it through.
I'll keep thinking super positive thoughts for u.

YIKES - glad I don't have to have buttons
How funny that for so many of us, it isn't the pain afterwards, but the unknown to begin with that causes so much stress. My pain has never been completely unbearable - just annoying mostly.
Yes - I have ligs on the metal brackets, and wires on the clear upper brackets. Might get ligs on them too as some point for continuity My adjustment was a piece of cake - swapped out wires to a heavier one and changed ligs. The best part was being able to brush and floss with the old wire out before they put the new one in. Now I just kick back and watch my teeth move for the next 5 weeks until my next adjustment.
Re: On My way!!
the discomfort after this past adjustment wasn't as bad as previous ones. We'll see what happens next time. I'm just going to keep thinking positive thoughts that it will continue to be easier as some people have said on these boards.
I really do like the blue ligs I picked. I'm thinking of pink the next time. We'll see how i'm feeling when I get there.
Can't believe how fast time has been flying while I've been in braces...

Re: On My way!!
At my last visit, the ortho put powerchains on my front teeth and the two next to it. I chose hot pink. The visit was really quick and didn't cause me too much anxiety...hmmm, maybe I'm getting used to this???
Re: On My way!!
6 months since my molars were braced and I embarked on this journey! so glad i did this, despite the ups and downs. I am disapointed though that my hot pink power chain has faded to a light pink. Oh, and now I have reached the point where my teeth look yellowish. So not happy about that. Now I know what people on these boards meant when they said there teeth are yellower in braces than before they started.
My next appt is in two weeks and I'll be choosing green ligs. I think i'll go with a darker green rather than lighter. We'll see what the ortho has in store for me then.
