WOW!! That lateral incisor has really moved!! And in only 4 weeks! Excellent!!

My right lateral incisor is FINALLY in line with my top teeth and I've noticed how nice it is to brush my teeth in a nice straight line rather than brushing them from every single angle imaginable just to get them all cleaned. I still have to do the crazy brushing with the left lateral, but I'm hopeful that in the next few months that one will also be where it's supposed to be and then I can brush like a normal person. It's such a great feeling once you can actually see the progress! :-*

Continued luck!!

Thanks :) It's really nice to see that kind of obvious movement and, after reading some of the stories on here I think I've been quite lucky in that I've really had no issues with the brace at all. Everything has been so easy. Ok, it takes a bit longer to clean and I can't bite into stuff because the brace is in the way and my teeth feel wobbly but to be honest it's not that hard to put up with.

Now stuff is moving, I can't wait for my next appointment in about 4 weeks time. If I'm lucky the lowers will go on and that crowding will start to get sorted as well. They will be metal.

The only thing I'm wondering now is if I'm the only person with Radiance ceramics here? Everyone else seems to have the Damon system and I'm wondering why I'm on something different!

Hi, I'm 2 weeks in and no movement so far. Glad to see it's not just me! Next appt is in 2 weeks so hoping for some change before then.

Very boring, gone for Damons mostly to widen my smile ( had all 4 first premolars out at 16 so quite narrow) and they're self-ligating, so no worries about choosing lig colours. Choice is much overated.

Well it's time for another update! :)

Not much to say to be honest - I'm looking forward to the 18th as I'll get the archwire changed then and possibly, just possibly get the lowers fitted. I think the replacement upper wire will be white - not sure.

Week 0 as the usual reference.

And Week 5 is the current state of things. That wire is looking a lot straighter. :jump:

Thank you, it's really exciting! I'm pumped about the possibility of getting the lowers on in 2 weeks.

The latest thing I've found myself doing is not staring at the mirror, but feeling the back of my lateral incisors with my tongue. I've not felt them for so long (it's felt like a gap between the incisors and the canines) and finally that 'gap' is filling in. It feels really strange but really nice at the same time!

Congrats on your fast progress! 8)

Your ceramics look very similar to mine and I've had no trouble with them either. When I first felt the spiky edges I thought there was going to be trouble but honestly they've been fine. Orthodontist keeps asking if I want wax but in the two weeks they've been on I've not used any at all!

Oh today is update day for me, best dig out the latest picture!

Perhaps we're just lucky? Some of the horror stories are unreal here. Sure there is a bit of an ache when they go in but it's all groovy so far. :)

OK I should be putting my weekly update in but instead I'm in bed. Lowers went on an the upper wire was changed. Really bad pain the next day which surprised me as the uppers were a breeze.

I have had a headache and felt a bit dizzy and sick all day from the ache in my jaw. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

I haven't had that type of reaction from my braces, but I have from headaches. Its usually associated with some inner ear stuff. Your lower jaw where it meets the TMJ is really close to your ear, you may have some inflammation up there. You might try some ice on your jaw don't forget you need to eat so your anti-inflammatories dont upset your stomach...feel better

Thanks, feeling a bit better today. The ache has settled to the right of my jaw at the back with a corresponding ear-ache. Thankfully the odd nausea sensation has faded away.

Anyway, I have to take the girlfriend to the dentist (not brace related). So I will catch up with my updates later today.

Hi Unspec,

Sorry to hear you have been unwell. You have had spectacular progress so far with your top brace and I hope things settle and that you will enjoy similar progress with the bottom one.

Jem
Sectional brace with Damon clear brackets fitted to front 6 upper teeth 3 January 2012
Brackets added to premolars 2 April 2012
Estimated treatment time originally 6-9 months
. Brace removed on 22 July 2013 after 18 months and 19 days
Now enjoying bonded upper retainer plus part time essix/hawley( I have both)
