I have just come back from my 5th adjustment.

It was brought forward a week, as last week I tried contacting the practice to see if they could bring forward my appointment as I was told at my last adjustment that if there was no movement when trying to close gaps in front of my canines that I shoud contact and get a stronger powerchain put on.

Well to cut a long story short I never had a reply to my email and never got round to phoning so I re emailed reception yesterday and they made an appointment for me today.

I have seen such little progress since my appointment 3 weeks ago :-(

My diastema is still slightly open and I have been told that above the gum line my teeth are touching-I mentioned a bend in the archwire which I had read about to get it to fully close but that is not possible given that I have a ni-ti archwire which would just return to it's normal shape and a bend in it just wouldn't happen. I have been told I would need composte just to address the very small amount of space left there. However, I have been told that there is always the possibility there may still be some improvement in it with this stonger powerchain *fingers crossed*.

With regards to the spacing in front of the canines the left has improved somewhat but the right seems stubborn and I have been unable to notice any change.

I am now on a close link powerchain and boy could I feel it tuggng when it went on! At least I now know that there should be some positive progress before my next appointment, given the powerchain tension and link size :-)

When asking about debonding we are still looking at Feb, possibly January if the canines move well. I will be having a bonded retainer and then an Essix in addition to and the bonding and reshaping at my debonding appointment :-)

I have some photos which I will upload too.

Try not to be too discouraged. I am sure your orthodontist will close those remaining spaces before he pronounces you "finished". Regardless, the difference is astounding. You must be pretty happy over all?? I hope so.

The pictures look amazing! The progress so far is fantastic. Hopefully the new power chain will make an improvement in the space behind your canine tooth. Fingers are crossed for you.

Today-I'm not in pain but can definitely feel some tension and the teeth are slighty tender.

I am so pleased with progress and can't wait for them to come off within next 2-3 months :-D

Hey Angel,

Your progress is amazing :D . Don't worry about those gaps, they will be closed in no time. I would say in another month or so.

Not a happy bunny earlier.

I was holding my 16 month old son to pass him to m hubby. Hubby somehow did something that made little one wriggle and in the process he head butted my lower lip into one of my upper brackets. It was bleeding a bit and has left a nasty mark and is a tad swollen where it hit :-( A real ouch moment to put it mildly :-(

Oh you poor thing. I know what you mean. I work in a pre-school and one of the kids had a tantrum and a little while back and kicked me in the mouth when I was trying to calm her down. Luckily not hard but the inside of my lip got all cut up - totally an ouch moment. Ice pops (or ice cubes if you don't have ice pops in the freezer) help numb the pain and slow the bleeding and you'll want lots of wax again to stop the brackets irritating the sore spots.

Whoa, Angel, that's definitely a BIG ouch moment. I hope it doesn't hurt for to long. I agree with Starfish, lots of ice and ice pops and don't forget a saltwater rinse every now and then to help speed the healing. Hang in there!

Hubby mentioned today another colleague has gotten braces! That's 2 in his office. Hubby's supervisor has just got them and we think she is probably late 50's-good on her!

I have my next adjustment next Thursday. Left canine is practically done! Just waiting for right to move, which it has started to do :-)
