I miss my white teeth!
So I had these nice white teeth, I had braces put on. I brush constantly with my sonicare. And even still, my teeth are yellowing. Any advice for how to deal with this? I have the dental bleach with the trays but of course I can't use right now because of the braces. Are there any whitening rinses out there that work? I already use whitening toothpaste.

I have heard that the glue can stain which is why the teeth look more yellow than usual. After the braces come off (with the glue) then your teeth should be back to how they were before. I think the shadows from braces make them look darker too. You can always get whitening once braces are over if you feel you need to though

Well that makes me feel better. But in the meantime I feel like I look dirty. It affects the overall look of my face

Hey guys,
I would highly suggest you guys try baking soda. I started using it about three weeks ago and my gosh, my teeth are whiter and brighter than ever. I use it once daily by dipping my toothpaste or just my toothbrush directly in it and once a week I put it on a proxabrush and scrub it underneath my archwire between my teeth. Works great

GAbrielle thank you!! A solution! I am headed to get some baking soda now and keeping my fingers crossed. I know it may take several brushings to see a difference but I am going to keep at it. Thanks a million!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Re: I miss my white teeth!
My ortho told me not to use any whitening products. It won't work under the brackets and there will be discolored squares on the teeth.
I scheduled extra cleanings with my dentist & am doing a professional whitening as soon as treatment is completed.

hey guys, i use baking soda but take care, in time it affects the teeth, do not use so often, once per week is enough...it is abrasive and damages the enamel if used too often... my Ortho says so...

Re: I miss my white teeth!
I hear ya! My teeth are yellowing too and I can't stand it!
I use baking soda AND hydrogen peroxide. Both together are AMAZING! Make a paste with these two and brush. Or, rinse your mouth for about a minute with hydrogen peroxide. It taste horrible, so if you can't stand doing that, mix in some mouth wash with hydrogen peroxide. My teeth have already whitened after doing this for about 2 weeks. Usually every other day or every 3 days.
Anyone know if doing this everyday can cause damage?

@Ionika- Oh jeez.. I better cut back to once a week. Thanks for that!
Re: I miss my white teeth!
I've also noticed that my teeth are yellowing as well. My orthodontist said that I could use a whitening toothpaste but I had only stocked up on regular before I got my braces put on. I've been regretting that for about the last 4 weeks!

Re: I miss my white teeth!
I use a product called "Plus White" Five Minute Whitening Gel, it is available at any drug store or Walmart. It is inexpensive and not too harsh. I used it before braces, during braces for over a year and a half and after, which has been about a year and a half. It is designed to be used with a tray, but with braces that isn't possible so you have to use a small soft bristle tooth brush which is less effective than using with a tray but it still works. Use it often enough to notice a difference, but not so much that you become sensitive.
