The Journey has begun *dum dum dum!!*
I'll be 34 yrs old this and just got my braces 4 days ago. Thankfully, I haven't had any pain besides some cheek irritation from the hooks on 2 of the brackets at the top thus far. My treatment time is supposed to be between 12-18mos...so, here goes...
I have a gap, over/deep bite and very minor crowding at the bottom. I've only had them a few days but, I see minor changes already in the bottom. I have some pics that I will post soon.

Good to hear that you haven't had any real pain. I had the awful irritation where it just chaffed the inside of my mouth for a few days then it cleared.

Most of the people on this board are happy/excited to be correcting real problems with their bite, health, and/or appearance. We haven't gotten braces because some evil orthodontist thought it would be funny. We got them because we want to improve out lives and are willing to pay/go through a finite time to achieve our goals. As you say, we've got our whole lives ahead of us, what's a year or two in braces to make that life better?shea07irl wrote:I beg you, force him to take them off, you have your whole life ahead of you, don't throw it into the wind, keep them away from your beatiful teeth.

Here are a few pics as promised

*please excuse my quite dehydrated lips..they dried out badly while getting my braces put on (even though I tried to load up on burt's bees before hand and after)and I'm still trying to recover.*

*again please excuse the dry lips*
Since I have a deep bite, I feared I might need molar buildups or bite turbos. I almost needed them but my awesome orthodontist assistant who put my braces on said she'd try out these 'bite pillows' first and they worked! Whew thank God! Those are what those clear things on the 2 bottom front teeth are.

Wow, your teeth look a lot like mine including the upper incisor that sticks out. After I got my braces put on that tooth pulled in pretty quickly and lined up with the others in my top arch. It's still a little rotated but it's straightening out pretty nicely. I'll be keeping an eye on your thread. You've found a really nice forum of very supportive and encouraging people who are all in the same boat as you. Hang in there!

I also had an upper midline diastema. Closed pretty quickly after my powerchain went on.
Hope you see progress quickly and as painlessly as possible.

I have the same problems. Here's to making awesome progress this year

Re: The Journey has begun *dum dum dum!!*
My ortho said it will be a while before they close the gap. I dont really care that much. I dont hate my gap. I used to hate it when I was a kid but, grew into it. Ironically enough, it was MUUUUCH smaller when I was younger. It's gotten so much wider in the past 10 yrs but, I know it's partially due to some extractions I had along w/ just natural shifting. I was told it will just continue to get wider so, I decided to take action.lol I know I'm going to miss it but, I'd rather have it gone forever than to have it keep getting wider. I know I'm probably in the minority w/ my feelings.
I've only seen minor movement in the bottom teeth. I know more is happening than I can see b/c I can feel it. I've have ZERO pain from my braces other than a few brackets aggravating the inside of my cheek and a wire poking.
It's been a month since I got them. I'll post more pics shortly, though, not much has changed.
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
