Alex Story

#1 Post by agreene433834 »

Well today is officially my first fulld ay with braces. I had my braces put on yesterday. I had my spacers in my back teeth for two full weeks and yesterday when they went to put on the bands in the back, my contacts wer still too tight on the bottom so only brackets were put on my back bottoms but full bands on top. It took almost two hours to get my braces completely done. I was not in too much pain so thats a major plus. They let me choose my colors so i chose blue and black. As of now my teeth feel very sore and any time i press my tongue on my front teeth the pain is crazy!!! It feels as if i can feel my teeth being pulled together and i am still unable to bite down very hard on my back teeth due to the pain from the spacers i had in my teeth. I will have m braces on for a min. of 16 months so I am looking forward to the results im going to get from my braces!!! Will post pictures later today!!! Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom ref braces and supports you may provide!!

Hi! Yay for getting braced :) The pain those first few days is all kinds of awful :( No tips really other than painkillers if you need them and soft food! (oh and I don't recommend going to the gym to lift weights like I attempted to do :P YOWCH!) It does get better though!

Today marks day 5 of having my braces on. The pain has subsided majorly and I am so thankful. Here are the pictures I promised.

I will be sure to take more pictures today. I am still getting used to the idea of having metal in my mouth. I am also over the nasty cement taste.

I feel WAY better..I'm so thankful to not have gone through the extensive pain period that i have been reading about. Now in a couple weeks when i go get my adjustments...thats a different story..Yea everyone has been telling me that my teeth were not that bad.

1 week

It has been one week since my braces were put on. I must say this has been a very difficult week trying to get adjusted but I think I am getting the hang of it. I have developed a few mouth sores from my brackets rubbing on my cheeks but not terribly bad to where I have to take action. My two front teeth where the most pain was have started to subside. I think it’s so strange that one of my two front teeth hurt way worse than the other but I can handle this pain without taking meds at this point.
Now on to the eating, Eating with braces is very very very difficult. I try to chew certain things or bite into soft things and my teeth still are sore so I am sticking to my soup till I can handle other things. I tried eating some pulled pork in very small portions so I would have to really chew but that was too difficult and I had to find something else. So I am still working on finding out what I can and cannot eat.
I also have encountered some person issues. I am trying to keep the romance in my life but I am nervous having braces. My partner and I do not want to cause any “physical” damage so we have tried to avoid it but eventually we have to figure out something. Is it possible to carry on a successful “love” life or are we going to have to find different measures??
