Getting braces at 19, very excited!!

Starter wires like yours are very flexible and round, then there is thicker
round wires they use...all to get the teeth rotated, and aligned along
the arch wire. Then..the square wire, which actually move the roots
at least this is what I've been told and experienced. Every time they
go up in wire size,...it's 2-3 days of soft food. My lower teeth have
more discomfort the the tops.....but my teeth have been in almost
the same place for 50Years.......you should not have the discomfort.

hi friends update here!!!
my teeth are still moving! its so cool, i know theyre moving because these bumpers they put on my lower front teeth are of no use anymore! my front teeth are basically just hitting my brackets which is really worrying me because im a clencher at night and i think i have wear on my front teeth!!!! i need to get into the ortho asap about this because i dont want to chip my front teeth!! its so annoying! i tried sleeping with a mouth guard on but i just couldnt do it i would wake up in the middle of the night and i was gone. haha it really bums me out because of course this would happen to me!!! has anyone else had this problem?

also my front teeth look to be moving BACK and to the right! its so weird, i really hope they do something new with my wires so i start seeing more results, im so impatient!!! but i do know that my snaggle tooth on the right is sooo much less down and doesnt stick out as far as it used to, and my lip doesnt get caught on it when i smile...lol that was really awkward in the beginning. haha

i am getting more comfortable with my braces each day and pretty much everyone i know has seen them and no one cares at all! whenever i encounter kids though they do look at me funny, but i dont even care it just makes me chuckle. haha i havent come across another adult with braces yet, everyone around these parts all had them as teenagers, and i mean EVERYONE haha every single kid but me and maybe 2 other kids in junior high didnt have braces, haha.

im pretty much eating alot of normal foods, i can eat chips and harder foods i just have to suck on the food for a few seconds before i can chew them, or eat cookies dipped in milk..mmm...lol i am eating all meat still as long as its tender and not chewy. i still havent tried eating salad, i assume it wouldt really work out very well. haha

i am getting really good about picking the food out of my braces with my tongue now though, im like an expert! haha and im easting taco bell as we speak! yumm im so grateful that my back teeth have started to move because i can finally chew things better now!

in other news i had to take my 5 year driver license written test yesterday and take a new PICTURE!!! what the heck they couldnt have had me do this a month ago?! haha so the picture isnt that bad i obviously didnt smile with my teeth because i dont know how long i will have this picture til so i smiled without teeth, and it kinda looks like im smirking haha. oh well at least my hair and makeup looked good. lol and a tip for everyone about the DMV-MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! i was in and out in an hour! i took my written test and took my picture in the time, i only waited around for half that time which is better than the usual 3 hours i used to spend in there!!

also i am finding that i feel like my teeth arent as clean as they should be after brushing! i brush for well over 2 minutes and i finally found the hand held flossers for braces at walmart and i am flossing more regularly, i brush so much that some of the bristles come out and get stuck to my brackets! am i brushing too hard? i always feel like i could have brushed harder but i dont wanna over do it! does anyone else have this problem?

anyways my birthday is the 28th and im turning the big 20! no longer a teenager!!! so sad. lol but i will be going down to southern california to hang out with my family and go to disney land, yea were THAT family that goes 3-4 times a year. haha i dont know why we dont have annual passes at this point, but im planning on eating alot of food and alot of cake and sweets!!! yay another holiday to eat junk! haha

anyways sorry for the long update and sorry im not on here more!!
is there anything anyone has to ask me in particular? i feel like i could talk about more stuff but i just cant think of anything else right now.

good to see an update I am a clencher at night too so I know what you mean! normally I only clench my molars, but lately it has been my canines and front teeth!! it is really weird!! My front teeth do not hit my brackets though, as my overbite stops this and i think cos my bottom teeth have moved a bit my overbite seems worse! lol but i do find my canines (are the bottom ones called that too? lol) they seem to feel sore and I tell ya, they are on the move into the extraction gaps quick as lightning! it is weird! lol. I am sorry you are hitting your brackets yep maybe go back and they might put more bumpers on or something? hopefully you get it fixed or by some miracle you might stop clenching lol i wish we could control it!!

I am glad you are getting more comfortable with your braces My sisters just saw my braces today! lol they said they looked good so that is ok! hehe, still alot of people like friends and some co workers who have not seen them.

LOL! i am old lol wow, i love it how casual you say "we are going to disneyland" lol! that would be like a dream for me hahahaha, i dont think i will be able to ever get there, and the fact you guys go like 3-4 times a year, lol, LOVE IT! you are lucky! I am just having a big party at my mums house with friends and family, should be good so yeh alot of friends will see my braces then who havent seen them. I am a bit hesitant as there are going to be so many people taking photos and all my photos are gonna have my braces in them lol, it feels weird smiling for photos while wearing braces.... kinda more self concious than BEFORE braces... WEIRD! lol

haha and guess what? i have to get my liscense renewal as well! lol. I have to go and get a new picture too!! so I am gonna have to practice smiling without showing teeth because I dont often smile without some teeth showing (mainly cos they are crooked and one tooth would always seem to stick out somehow if i tried to smile without showing teeth lol!)

i am not sure about the brushing, but i use an electric toothbrush with the orthodontic head and i love it. dont even have to force it under the wires its just goes there, kinda like brushing like i used to without braces, it is the best you should get one!! I use a manual one for my lunchtime brushing though as I am work half the time and dont want to take my electric toothbrush to work!

hahaha i love having holidays as an excuse to eat junk LOL!

thanks for the birthday wish! i had a very lovely time! all my family saw them and just asked a bunch of questions and told me i look cute with them on so that was nice haha

i did go to a party where i saw alot of people that hadnt seen me with braces yet and they all did the same thing! told me about their experiences and how horrible they were and im all like "these dont hurt at all" haha they all told me they looked cute so oh well! haha im glad you had a good birthday!!!! dirty 30!!!! haha

how did the dmv go? did you end you end up smiling with your teeth? i think either way it doesnt matter, no one sees your pic anyways/ haha just do a little smile! thats what i did.

I go in on Tuesday for my first wire change and I'm soooo excited!!!! I can't wait for a thicker wire and to be seeing even more changes, it's so exciting to me. Lol and to start feeling it more! I'm not complaining that I'm not in pain, it's been really nice but I feel like the more pain the better. Haha am I crazy? Anyways I will also ask them about my clenching and my worry about chipping a tooth.
I will be posting a pic soon of some comparisons I've put together, it took me a while to finally do this because I'm using a Mac and for SOME reason Mac doesn't make it easy to resize pictures and what not, but I drank a rock star at 5pm yesterday so I was up til 1 doesn't things I've needed to do for weeks, that being one of them. Haha

Also I had officially started on a new diet because I don't fit in most of my jeans anymore haha. And I also figured out that I can eat salad!!! I wouldn't do it in public but it's not as bad as I thought! What do you guys recommend as far as diet foods?

I think alot of us WANT to feel the pain. I wasn't really in pain much either. Then I had my 1st adjustment, and they basically did nothing but it obviously triggered my canine to start moving in, but like a week after the adjustment. I think I even posted in my story about how it wasn't hurting anymore and wanted it to. Then my tooth started moving and WHOA, it started hurting alot!

I get a new wire next week too and I'm excited.

I hear you on not fitting clothes anymore! I've put on a bit of weight too I'm probably not the best person to advise on diet. I seem to eat nothing but carbs for the last 5 months

Hi guys!!! So little update here!

wow LOVE your pics, your teeth look awesome! going so well! i know, i have my first adjustment on tuesday and I am so excited to get a new wire (i hope! lol) and some pink ligs lol!

i am starting my healthy eating as well! hahahah those rock star drinks are so nice, I used to drink them every weekend when I was younger before I went out partying hehehe but yes, now I am old and 30 LOL.

BTW i haven't gone to the "DMV" as you guys call it hehe, I will go on friday i think when I have been paid cos I am out of money at the moment thanks of my massive bday party lol.

as for diet foods, I have factored baked beans into my diet as they are healthy (not for your bum lol!) and filling! also made turkey burgers today (just the meat with onion in it and cooked on the pan) with some zuchinni fritta kinda things, so hopefully that will be nice for lunch tomorrow instead of my sandwiches i have been eating 234723423098432 thousand of them which has given me these extra rolls on my tummy! lol
